would an airpot fit snuggly inside a 5 gallon paint bucket?

i dunno, but it seems like it would defeat the purpose of it being an air pot.. why not just plant in the 5gallon bucket to start with?

yes an airpot will fit great in a Snuggie.. you can use the arm sleeves to warm your clones as well. Snuggies are great..

nah it doesnt defeat anything it would just give a 5 gal sized airpot a sturdy case and a handle

they look flimsy and hard to move.

the paint bucket would block the sides making the airpot pointless. once they are full of soil and roots they slide around pretty easy. the airpot needs to be exposed to air to work.

airpot inside paintbucket not opposite ; )

doesnt it just rib the sides giving the roots more surface area, as opposed to a round planter

you are talking about cloth Airpots right? they prune the roots by exposing them to air, the roots branch out in the available soil making better use of the space and nutrients.

oh those guys, my bad. i still think the bucket would prevent the air pruning ability of those but they will still work to prevent circling roots. i have to say, from the couple grows ive seen with them in person i wasn't very impressed. the little holding tabs kept popping out on one guy. they grew the plants well but it just seamed like a hassle. the bucket would prevent it coming apart, but azalea pots are ribbed to prevent circling roots and they cost less than $2 each.

i personally dont root prune any thing but mothers. i use large enough containers that the plants dont get very root bound before harvest. however the idea is that air pruning concentrates more root hairs in a smaller soil volume. this allows plants to take up nutes and water more efficiently.

these are made of cloth?

no there made of plastic those are the airpots i use and if you remove the blue screws the pot will unravel. IMO you dont want to put the air pot into a bucket the whole point of the air pot is to let air into the root system though the little holes in the side if you put the pot into a bucket you would restrict the airflow to the holes in the side. why do want to put them into a bucket? the pots are durable enough to handle already its pointless to put them in a bucket, you might aswell just use a bucket if you are going to that

Not trying to be a smart ass but how is that thing inserted into paint bucket air tight? I am imagining that with that in a 5gal bucket and it seems like it would be a whole lot more air than just in the bucket right? Or is it that tight to where there is no breathing room? Never used one is why I'm asking

Yah I thought that too, Its not like you stick that in and your suddenly in a vacum. I mean if you had to hit it in with a hammer or something ok haha. but my guess is even with some holes blocked from the pot it is still a way more amount than you would normally have in just a pot. Cool might have to try this for next grow

lol yes you are being a smart ass i was really trying to imply it would be a air tight vacum. i just meant it would restrict alot of the airflow to the holes for no real apparent reason another and it would depend on the airpots size as to how tight it would be in the buck i would assume
