No WWIII but it sure is a mess. putin has definitely overplayed his hand. Any gains in territory Russia realizes are going to come at a very high cost. The Russian people are going to suffer the most as putin has now put Russia in the same category as North Korea as far as the rest of the world is concerned. The Russian economy is in shambles and things are only going to get worse for them now.

Germany can no longer depend on the USA to be a bulwark of NATO in Europe and I've recently heard they are gonna rearm in a bigger way, as part of a united western Europe this should not be an issue. France does have an independent nuclear arsenal these days and views Germany as a partner in the EU and not a threat, Poland wants a back stop too. If America goes fascist and cripples the Biden administration in the midterms, then they elect another Trump as POTUS, Europe will need some bolstering.
