Yeast in nutrients

Hey
I spilled a little bit of this yeast/sugar solution in my spare nutrients bin.
Will that affect my grow?

yeast is a starch, which is a carbohydrate. plants convert yeast into long term storage molecules for energy. i just took final exams for Biology: Plants, People & The Environment and got a good grade - however, i have not tested this on weed so i cant say for certain that the weed will appreciate it.

what kind of yeast was it? a brand name? im sure those brand names have extra stuff, and you didnt state whether or not it was MADE for plants so i cant say either way. im really stoned though, so i assume the solution was for plants since i cant think of any other reason to mix yeast/sugar. id say youre okay, keep an eye on them though.

sorry to say youre way off with this one. yeast isnt a starch, its a living organism comprised of proteins, peptides, aminos, nucleic acids all that good stuff. it is aerobic and uses SUGAR c6h12o6, for energy. then its bi-products are co2, alcohol and more yeast. yeast is used to convert sugar and water into co2 to supplement the plants co2 needs. it will eat any sugar you have in your solution. this is why they use it in breweries. the yeast eats the carbs, like wheat and barley, digests it and produces alcohol. it cant possibly be good for your plants. use anything with sugar in it and you will see a nice coat of yeast all around your solution. im a biology major in grad school and thats the facts.

thx
I wrote this thread in a panic after spilling it
after sensi answered me I finally calmed down and gave it some though
but i just had to be 100% sure
I think ill be ok
anyway if worse comes to worse I am using General hydroponics super concentrated formula Flora Nova
So a sys flush shouldnt be too bad
definately wont hurt the pockets

on top of that the yeast may take the place of beneficial bacteria and funguses that your plant uses. trial and error will tell you if it is ok or not but id be careful not to do that again.

thx MagusALL
you musta wrote that while i was writing mine
I spilt about 1/4 cup of the yeast solution into a 10 gal res
you think that will harm my stuff?

thanks for clearing it up, i remember now where i read about yeast - it was either used during cellular respiration or fermentation - i even checked my notes just to see what i missed. i apparently forgot about the conversion part, i guess i should have studied harder lol. but when you say its full of proteins/peptides/aminos - those are all related in the same organic molecule. peptide bonds are made from protein, and amino acids are the monomer of protein. but you already know that, good thing we have a bio major here.

i totally mixed up yeast and starch though, sorry about that. starch is what the plant stores for long term energy. like i said, im really stoned. :blsmoke:

Hey man no worries
I appreciate that you tried to help in the first place

yeah, peptides are a string of amino acids which form proteins(polypeptides), nucleic acids form DNA, mRNA, tRNA, blah blah blah. Basically it isnt fuel like sugar or starch which is a food storage molecule. The yeast eats it is basically what you need to know so it will proliferate in a pH neutral (approx) environment of relatively warm temperature containing fuel such as sugar. So if your nutrient solution had CARBO STUFF, or whatever the hell its called, than you might be in trouble. You might want to switch out the nutrients in this case. What are you using the yeast for anyhow? Is it for the co2 it gives off? How is that working for you?

havnt noticed much
i dont think it will ferment under intense light
because of that and the danger to my backup res I just switched over to seltzer
the sltzer i use has no sodium
so thats a plus
my plants are way fat now and less than 2 weeks old

check out drchronic.com and look at lowlife seeds, or put in automatic, there are a few cool strains to check out.

they are SOLD OUT of automatic white russian but i am most certainly going to pick up a pack of those for my summer outdoor grow. they have to be awesome. white russian is a sick strain and autoflowering is perfect for a stealth guerilla grow.
