If it's overwatering I think the tips of the leafs would be turned down. Are you sure he didn't end up with one of the purple strains?
The deficiencies that occur on the very newest growth would be iron, manganese, calcium or boron. Calcium and boron would both have distorted growth and necrosis. Manganese would have chlorosis with tan flecking. Iron has interveinal chlorosis, a yellowing between the veins while the veins stay green.
Iron deficiency can be from a pH issue or from overwatering.

It looks like too much N. The lighter green looks like it should. The darker leaves are from too much N. Just my opinion though.
N toxicity would also display a downward clawing to the tips of the leaves which doesn't occur here. Newest normal growth is lighter green, but it does not present with any chlorosis and there is interveinal chlorosis here.

i was watching all day for those 2 super master growers @bk78 and @twentyeight.threefive to answer this elementary growing question...they must be busy...i got it, we can leave those two waiting for their next trigger moment to spam toxic

Nah...even in wonky lighting there's clues. Leaf tips look great, no blemishes or contortions in leaves...leaves arent nitro crinkled anywhere on the plant...so it looks to me everything is motoring along for this grow
