I can’t really say, I kinda thought CA was a blue State. The wife was talking to her boss who lives here, and said that on top of thier mortgage, they have to pay property taxes of course which is sky high, an HOA fee, AND a 15,000 a year “housing development” fee. Prob not my place to dis someone else’s home state, so I apologize for that… it just seems like the States system is rigged against your average Joe. Most people I’ve talked to say they need 2-3 jobs just to survive…. It’s just not my cup of tea… the views are nice, but maybe just a better place to visit. I went from Coronado Beach and up to LA. There are some nice spots (expensive), but JAYSUS!, the traffic. Rush hour starts at 2:30 on the 15, and if you’re not on the road, it takes 2 hours to go 20 miles ….. and the roads are rough AF.
I did have a nice visit with mi hijo in Murietta, beer and street tacos were pretty awesome.. he’s not closing his eyes here.. it’s sewn shut.. lost it about 8 years ago in a firework accident. This is the first time I’ve seen him in 4 years.
Cali is blue. Fornia is redder’n Greater Idaho. We elected MosCarthy for grief’s sake.

Hey @Roger A. Shrubber were ya leading the kids in the "fuck you fascists" chant at the statehouse? When kids call them fascists their number is up, it might not change there, but it will change federally if the democrats win and there is fuck all the SCOTUS can do about it, if they do it right and they read the papers and might not want to anyway, shit happens, things change, even them.

This seems appropriate.

Where and what?
SoCal… the raping of the people by the governing bodies of thier freedom to do what they want without fines, fees, permits, etc. There doesn’t seem to be a tiered divide between the rich and middle class. As of now, new builds require solar only for power. It’s expensive. And if you applied for that permission to plant the select list of trees on your own property, and it dies, you have to pay for the fees and paperwork to show you applied for said dead tree before you can sell your home. It’s the most fucked up system I’ve ever seen besides Oklahoma Cannabis grow op laws.

Considering about 80% of people agree with them, they've got the wind at their backs. It won't change much statewide I expect not enough of the fuckers died off! However federally it could be a different matter, if the democrats get serious about guns, Joe spoke of a semi-automatic weapon ban not quibbling about the definition of an assault rifle.

The federal government has great powers to regulate and tax guns, perhaps not ban them outright, but they do ban other "arms" like artillery, bombs and rockets, all in existence and privately owned when the second was written. They claim it is a state right, but the courts regularly strike down state gun laws. Time to test them in federal court with new federal laws and let them try and play a game of logical twister on the floor of the courtroom, if they wanna try and say they can't regulate guns, if they already regulate calibers and automatic weapons while outright banning other arms. It is military arms mentioned in the 2nd, not guns, guns are arms and so were swords when the 2nd was written.

So, the federal government can tax guns and require registration for annual taxation purposes and whenever a gun is sold privately the tax must be paid and the registration changed (like a car). If ya don't wanna pay the hundred bucks every year ya can turn in the gun. Increase the burden, costs and liability of owning a gun with federal regulations and ban semi auto rifles with removable mags. Don't pay for them, make owning them a pain in the ass and expensive. 3% of the population owns 50% of the 400 million guns in America and if ya made it very expensive and burdensome for 20% of the population who own multiple guns you would get 80% of the guns at no expense, turn them in, or register and pay the tax. In a decade the number of guns in America would be a fraction of the current numbers. Sooner or later guns will have to go in America, this is how it can be done in a decade. You won't get them all, but you will dramatically reduce their numbers and the number of people murdered by them. Mass shootings will become rare and more school kids will live.

I think in this instance your and my views are diametrically opposed. The fees and permits are necessary to avoid the “tragedy of the commons” in this beautiful and fragile land.

And freedom isn’t worth a wet sneeze into your hand if it selects for the people who have money. (insert rant about libertarian hypocrisy here)

Case in point: it is my firm belief that not one new construction should be permitted here without its own independent source of water. Existing infrastructure cannot carry what we already have.

I see plans to develop parts of my current refuge, the western Mojave. I doubt that the developers have a water plan other than “add to the demand on the river”. If that is freedom, I say tax the bastards into oblivion so that there will be something left for my grandkids.

Tell me about it. I didn't know what Shwag was until I moved to CA.

It doesn't get any more Blue than CA. There are parts that are Red, but they're way outnumbered. The mountain towns are still OK.

They’re basically saying they’re upset that they can’t be openly racist anymore
It cramps their style and is dangerous to one's employment and business. It is not liberals doing it though, it is cellphones and cameras everywhere catching cops and Karens then posting them on social media. Guns are mostly a symbol and symptom of something else, so is Trump.
