ChChoda, in your inflexibility you fail to understand it is possible to admire someone without supporting him. Bill Clinton is a perfect example.

Bill Clinton is brilliant, shrewd, and a hard worker. I can admire that, but I can also recognize that Bill Clinton is not a nice guy. He is a Sociopath who is a slave to his appetites.

See how that works?

You probably don't.

So you are infatuated with consummate politicians. Sad, how that works...

I am a Conservative.

I am not a Republican.

If only I could be a Republican. But they knocked the Republic out of Republican a long time ago.

Now they are the party of Big Government, the War on Drugs, the Pro-Life Movement, Anti-Gay bigotry, and the Moral Majority. I stopped being a party member sometime between 1994 and 1996. 1992 was the last party primary in which I voted.

But, in this particular case, I am perfectly capable calling a spade a spade.
But, Huckabee, he's a nice guy. Real smart, too. And a hard worker even. A really nice guy!

Relevance? None.

Where do you get infatuation from admiration? I clearly stated that it is possible to admire someone without supporting them. Somehow this concept escapes your pea brain.

So you are reduced to pulling a quote of mine from an unrelated thread. That is sad.

Do you wonder how I know Huckabee is a decent guy? A long time ago, I knew him. When he was in Seminary we were members of the same church. And that is completely unrelated to politics.

Now, I'm tired of chasing your trivial little rabbits.

Let's focus on Governor Palin working for FNC.

:wall:
Unless they're D's or R's.
:wall:
Except in the cases of the overly qualified politicians Huckabee and Clinton.
:wall:
Or, unless Obama purports to support your right to light up.
:wall:
Unless it's a cigarette, which he doesn't purport to support.
:wall:
Furthermore, if you're against gay marriage or pro-choice, you're a bigot.
:wall:
But, bigots can be nice guys, too!
:wall:
Just not nice girls.
:wall:

You are diametrically opposed to yourself.

Back to the lazy, dumb, mean spirited Palin...

Mike Huckabee's Political Background:
Mike Huckabee is the Governor of Arkansas from 1996-2007. He is also an ordained Baptist minister. He is running for president as a pro-family, anti-abortion, and has stated a wife should graciously submit to her husband.

Employment Non-Discrimination:
Mike Huckabee opposes an Employment Non-Discrimination Act that protects gays, lesbians and transgender people from job discrimination.

Hate Crimes:
Mike Huckabee opposes hate crimes legislation that includes sexual orientation and gender identity. He has said he would not support adding sexual orientation to Arkansas' anti-discrimination laws

Gay Marriage:
Mike Huckabee opposes same-sex marriage and would push for federal legislation to make marriage between one man and one woman only. On his website he says, "I support and have always supported passage of a federal constitutional amendment that defines marriage as a union between one man and one woman. As President, I will fight for passage of this amendment. My personal belief is that marriage is between one man and one woman, for life."

Civil Unions:
Mike Huckabee opposes civil unions. In an interview with GQ magazine he said, "Once the government says this relationship is in essence similar to or equal to a marriage—we’re not going to call it that, but that’s what it is—and you grant it the same basic rights as marriage, then you’ve effectively done it."[redefined marriage"I have never supported civil unions, and I don't. I don't think it is something that is a good thing," Huckabee said in a November 2007 interview with Salon.com.

Gay and Lesbian Adoption:
Mike Huckabee is against gay adoption and gays and lesbians becoming foster parents.

Don't Ask, Don't Tell:
Mike Huckabee said he supports the current ban on gays and lesbians serving openly in the military. During a republican debate on CNN in June 2007 he said, "I don't think that I would (change the current policy.)"

More about Mike Huckabee:
From a profile in GQ magazine:
"Unlike most of the GOP field, he isn’t just trying to woo the religious right. He is the religious right—a former Baptist minister, a believer’s believer on abortion and gay marriage, a skeptic about evolution."

Jesus! All this static because I had the unmitigated gall to say he was a nice guy, a hard worker, and I agreed with him on one issue.

I hope you do not self-identify as a Conservative.

Furthermore, I hope you don't wonder why thoughtful people distrust Republicans.

Because you are the RIU poster boy for Right-wing nut jobs.

You've finally taken a firm stance on something. You and I are like oil and water; you're right (left, actually). I am a Republican supporting conservative, intent on diffusing the Democrat time bomb, tick tick ticking. You are a haughty "moderate" intent on looking erudite. So you speak out of both sides of your mouth, like Huckabee and Clinton, men you admire, in order to never be wrong. But you're also never right (you're left).

My stance is very firm, you simply fail to comprehend it.

When did I say I like Bill Clinton? I said there are certain qualities I admire, while saying some extremely negative things about him in the same sentence. Where do you distill like from that?

I am anything but moderate. If you paid any attention at all to my posts you might understand that. Apparently you interpret independent thought as squishiness.

Favoring Gay Marriage is not a Progressive issue, it is a Constitutional issue. Until the Republicans understand that it has to do with Equal Protection under the law, it will be an anchor for the party.

The same principle applies to Abortion. Roe v. Wade was a privacy case. Abortion will continue to alienate female voters and drag the party down. Just because of the perceived need to pander to the bible thumping faction of the party.

The simple fact that you refuse to understand what I am trying to put forth does not bode well for your party in the long term.

But keep it up. It's very entertaining.

I think it's hilarious that just because I am unwilling to hitch my wagon to Sarah Palin, I am unacceptable as a Conservative.

Until Republicans like yourself understand that dissent is a positive attribute, your party will continue to be largely ignored by people like myself.

Sarah Palin is a cheerleader and she had better stay where she is because she will be poison in 2012 if she chooses to run for anything higher than U.S. Senate.

Ignore me at your own peril. But if Palin runs for President, get ready to experience a new Clinton Presidency (best case scenario) or a second Obama term (worst case scenario).

Pretty squishy stuff.

You admire and dislike Clinton.

Your not a moderate, your an independent.

yada yada

Republicans disdain the Constitution.

yada yada

Women and minorities hardest hit.

yada yada

Palin doesn't have a chance in hell, except, maybe, to be a Senator.

yada yada

If she runs for or wins the Presidency, you guys are idiots, and are screwed. If we have another Obama term, you guys are screwed.

'Yada yada' is not a meaningful rebuttal. It is dismissive gibberish.

In truth, you cannot defend any of the points I made. Otherwise you would not have responded in such a manner.

Bill Clinton has certain attributes I admire and some attributes I disdain. Period.

I am not an Independent either. Independent thought is not necessarily political. I am a Classical Liberal; Jeffersonian Liberal - if you will. Also known as a Libertarian.

If you run Palin for President, or Vice-President, I won't be the idiot who votes for her. You would be wise to heed my warning and keep her at FNC.

Palin is as big a political lightweight as Obama is; more hype than actual substance. They are opposite sides of the same coin.

But go ahead and ignore me. :dunce:

Dude, you're just trolling now.

And you still haven't produced anything that points to Palin being anything but a retard, or why anyone should support her, other than the shit JO pointed out earlier, how she's a crazy fundie, lower-taxes, less gov. "yada yada" - all the shit a 3rd grader could come up with that has people like you soaking it up and thinking she's some brilliant person... so uhh...yeah, any day now...

Yada yada was your hyperbole. It doesn't need distilling as it's already in its base form.

As for your vote, we Constitution lovers would be the fools you perceive us to be if we counted on you for support. And you claim to sit in the high chair, as biased as you are...

"Yada yada' was your insipid rebuttal. Nothing more.

You claim to love the Constitution, but I have already explained how the Republican party has no problem shitting all over it. If that's what you call 'love,' you can have it.

I am biased; biased in favor of Liberty.

Here's the scenario: The Republicans run Palin next Presidential cycle. Democrats will flock to the polls and register as Republicans to vote for her in the Primaries.

Why?

Because they know she is unelectable outside of the State of Alaska.

Just as I do.

I look forward to your brilliant 'yada yada.'

"The scenario"? Or a scenario, John?:wall:

The Democrats have as a goal the destruction of the Constitution and the institutions this country were founded on. The Republicans have idiots like Huckabee who shit on the Constitution, in a bi-partisan shit fest fashion. As you would have it.
