My 1st Indoor Grow - 3 strains - 6 plants

Raul,

They are looking good! Did you get my PM? I wasn't sure if I sent it correctly but if you got it I wanted to mention the difference I saw in bud density in the strains we talked about. The WW was not very dense, just sort of leafy if you get my drift. The skunkberry had real dense sugary buds. A lot of sticky sand (i call it) when you grind up the SB's buds. In fact it gooz up my herb grinder so bad I have to wash it in alcohol so the thing will rotate. Again I'm sorry for not being able to describe the differences in "highs" between the strains. Most of the pot I've smoked for the first 40 years never had a name other than gold or red!! Hey, your sex shots are great!! Good luck!

Thank you for the kind words and encouragement: GardensGrow, IcanMJ, Moldy and Rope Smoker. Moldy, I did get your PM - it was very helpful.

My plants continue growing very well and I was able to determine 2 more male plants today - 1 Skunkberry and 1 Northern Skunk. Thats ok, because my largest plant (Endless Sky) is confirmed female. My gut feeling is that my other 2 unconfirmed plants will be female too. My goal was to end up with 3 females - 1 from each strain - and I am feeling pretty good about that today.

I installed my new carbon filter today, which is long overdue if you catch my drift. Yesterday, I added to my nutes the Fox Farm Tigerbloom and Open Sesame. I am following the FF soil grow feeding schedule exactly as per the FF web site. I water every 3 days. Every other watering is with water and Big Bloom only. I also foiler feed once per day.

Here are my sex shots from today:

Endless Sky female - new pistol development

Northern Skunk - male flowers

Skunkberry - male flowers

Too bad on the males. Hopefully your gut is right about the others.

About when did the plants start to smell? (I'm assuming that's what you meant when you mentioned that you were overdue for putting on the carbon filter)

My plants started smelling as soon as they started branching and filling out - about week 3 into the vegetative growth. From that point, the increase in odor seemed proportionate with the increase in plant size. Even the male plant that I destroyed was strong smelling. The odor will get quite a bit stonger as the buds develop.

Since I have a couple of Skunk cross strains, I am sure the oder is enhanced in my case.

I had an outdoor grow a few years back and my 3 budding sativas were growing down on a steep creek bank. One of my sativias grew to over 6 feet tall and looked more like a shrub than any single pot plant that I have ever seen. By the end of the budding, the smell of these ladies was so strong that I could smell them up in my yard 30 feet above the creek bank. Fortunately, I had acerage with lots of privacy and they were well hidden among thick vegetation that one would not normally want to climb down into to discover them.

Too bad on the males. Hopefully your gut is right about the others.

Great pix Raul! I guess I need to go to photo school. I've got a pretty good camera but not smart enough (or motivated) to learn how to run it!

I started my last grow with 7 seedlings and only one turned out to be male. I have the same plant limit you have so I had to kill 3 females. That was hard as I didn't know anyone I could give them to. My state rules do not allow for transfer to other patients unless you are the caregiver. Then only one caregiver per patient so it sort of leaves us to our own with no groups or other ways to share anything! I wish it was more like WA, OR, or Cali but it's better than nothing!

BTW, the skunkberry is fairly easy to clone. If you plan to do it you better do it soon.
Good luck!

This morning I destroyed my other 2 males, so I have 3 remaining plants. I looked very carefully at my 2 unsexed plants and I see no signs of male flowers, so I feel strongly that they will both be female plants. Show me just 1 pistol and I will know for sure.

Here is today's pic of my 3'x3' grow room with my 3 remaining plants. My ES fem is in front and she measures 17" tall X 21" wide.

Great news -My 2nd confirmed fem (Northern Skunk) showed me her first pistol growth today.

3 Lovely Ladies - left to right - Skunkberry, Endless Sky, and Northern Skunk.

Northern Skunk - F1 hybrid Northern Lights #5(BCSC) female pollinated with Skunk (Peak) male.

Skunkberry - F1 hybrid. Skunk (Peak) female pollinated with Blueberry (SAG) male.
Although I could almost imagine seeing signs of a pistol this morning, I will still call her
"unconfirmed female" today. However, I am staking my reputation that she
is female just by studying the preflower looks of her.

Endless Sky starting to show her colitas - Ah, "the warm smell of colitas
rising up through the air"! (Colitas in Spanish means small buds or colas.)

The filter seems to work very well as long as my grow room door is closed. When I open the door to take care of my ladies, the smell goes out the door and into places where it can be noticed. I think my wife imagines that she smells it sometimes when she really can't, or at least I can't smell it at the same time.

Just being careful when I open the door and then using open windows and fans when I open the door seems to keep it from being noticed too.

She won't complain too much though because she will be anxious for harvest as much as me.:blsmoke:

Skunkberry is a she! Well, I got lucky and ended up exactly where I wanted to be with a female for each of my 3 strains. Skunkberry held out the longest, but this morning she finally gave it up and showed me her girly parts.:hump:

Everything is going well with my 3 ladies. Two plants are 18" tall and the 3rd is 14" tall. All 3 are quite bushy and wider than they are tall.

7 colitas are showing on the top of Endless Sky

Yes, I have not had much in the way of really good smoke for a long time now. I am feeling really impatient waiting on my buds to grow.:joint:
