I don't know that I am going journal this one, because I am going to do one when I SCROG with the bubbleponics system coming up. I may yell if I have SCROG questions here. I actually made two of these carts while I was risking finger injury. Going to give the SCROG thing a trial run with a couple 3 gallon hempy buckets and the SGS-160 - White Widow x Big Bud - both have been topped once already and training outward a bit.

Really nice setup there, GB. I see you got a couple of the Cree LED bulbs shining in back. Plants are looking nice and healthy.

Looking forward to seeing the DWC bubbling along, too!

Thanks, Dave! That was the supplemental lighting I rigged for the Phototron when I had several plants in there. Now, since I am using the Phototron to keep a mother and start clones, it was better served as a fill for where the filter shaded a portion of the tent in the back. I may have to rig some braces for the buckets on the cart, and also for the reservoir on the cart in the other tent, but I like the way things are headed. I think I've got a reservoir change strategy down too, but we shall see!

That res is going to be heavy when filled with water, so I'm not sure if you need a bracket. Maybe just a rubber mat to keep if from sliding around? Of course, now I'll feel guilty if you tip it over... o_O

My biggest concern about the carpet is mites. I have a healthy paranoia that keeps things in check, so maybe having it always be a concern is a blessing in disguise. Keeps me from getting complacent, which is how MOST people get them.

Without getting into it, I am prepared for an escalating scale of aggression. If I can make one recommendation for the handguns around the house, it's frangible ammunition if it is available to you. Keeps things from penetrating too much and cuts down the risk of collateral damage. The Air Marshals use them to keep from depressurizing the cabins. This is all theoretical by the way :bigjoint: And before THAT conversation starts, remember that we are talking about a couple people who CAN'T run away :wall:
Brother Greatbranch Ortho's Home Defense Works Great For Any Creepy Crawler's In Da Carpet.I Also Spray The Inside And Outside Of My Tent BEFORE I Start My Grows :weed:

Thanks, Dawg! Me too. That's all part of that healthy paranoia.
Is that stuff safe for humans/pets? I use the Home Defense MAX outside the perimeter of my house to kill the ants. But I've been afraid to use it indoors at all. I don't suppose you guys use an organic version that I don't know about?

I use the home defense stuff indoors and out - mostly the carpet UNDER the tents twice per year, but the spraying I do in between is with Azamax. I use a linear spray around the perimeter of the tents and mist the outside of the tents every week or so.

I'd be sprinkling DDT around the house if I could still get my hands on it, dude. Me and my three arms...lol.

OK. That reminds me of some stories my brother told me that make me squeamish about contact with petrolem-based chemicals. He's been an exploration geologist for a major oil company for over 30 years and pro-oil, but he told me about "cancer alley" downwind of the oil refineries in Texas where the cancer rate is through the roof. And once he described an area of Azerbaijan (where he almost moved to) where oil naturally seeps out of the ground so much that you almost can't avoid getting it on yourself and kids play in it. The cancer rate there is really high, too, and so are birth defects, like stillborn babies with one cyclops eye and stuff like that.

But hopefully our pot smoking will fight off cancer enough to counteract the damage done by the petrochemicals in our environment. Don't let the bed bugs bite! ;-)

Hey GB, you haven't posted for a while. How are your girls Natty, Patty, Olivia and Wilomena doing?

Are you still thinking about getting an RO filter? Bulk Reef Supply didn't have much of a sale for July 4th, so I just bit the bullet and paid their regular price for the 4-stage. I figure that if I really need the 5th stage (.6 micron), I can buy it separately in the future. This one cost me around $180 after including a float valve and adding tax & shipping. I haven't tested the filtered water yet, but will let you know how well it works. It was surprisingly easy to install. Most of the work was setting up the reservoir tank with the float valve & garden hose faucet on it, which was easy too. After that it's just screwing an attachment on the faucet and connecting the hoses. (Then you have to flush it for an hour.)

First batch is about 14 ppm, about the same as what I get from Cub Foods. It should get lower as the loose carbon gets flushed out of the filter. And I never really washed out the bucket thoroughly, so that could account for some stuff dissolved in the water. I'm very happy with this! :hump:

I can't believe you've got all the names, man. I have been very busy as far as work. Everyone is looking much less scrawny, which is awesome! Guess everybody needs some space. Willomena is better this time around. Doesn't have as much of a lemony taste as before, and this one is a clone, so I am betting it is a trick with getting the timing right to capitalize on the terpenes and such, but it may sneak back in there after curing. I probably should have cut it just a few days earlier than I did. It will sit your ass down, though. She was the one I got the glamor shot of a couple weeks ago. Got no real monsters in here this go round, but they are at least respectable. All of them have glistening little boobies, though.

I need to look into the RO filter thing. It would make life a lot easier!

I am on well water (350-400ppm) and even a single sediment filter+RO membrane gives me 4-10ppm depending on how often I stay on top of changing the sediment filter (.99 at the hardware store for the record) and I bought the system for only 150 AT A HYDRO STORE so surely you'll be able to find something for ~100 bucks.

Your photography skills are better than you let on, GB. These look really great. All of those plants look healthy and frosty. Olivia has some hairy bud leaves there. She must not be Brazilian. :P They'll be good butter material.

I just read that if you want more terpenes, eat mangoes before toking because mangoes contain lots of them. it's supposed to intensify the high.

How are your seedlings doing? Are you going to use them in your new hydro system?

That sounds great for someone who's on a tight budget. Mine's more expensive because it contains a deionizer, a pressure gauge, dual tds monitors, etc. The last 2 things help you maintain the filter. I checked around a little and never found anything like the Bulk Reef Supply models for a better price. But if you don't need a Lexus, get a little Hyundai instead!

Thanks, D-! Hmmm. Sounds like I need to add mangoes to my breakfast smoothie. I was adding green dragon in my smoothies, but now, I've just started using fluffy buds and worthy trim. I've got one of those blenders that will puree a brick. Keeps me from smoking so much, and fits better in the diet than most of the sweets. I just have to be sure I pour my wife's portion out of the blender before mixing in the bud. She'd be flyin' and would never forgive me. There WAS the brownie incident of 2008 - I told her NOT to eat the brownies in the kitchen when I was leaving the house one day. Brownies are one of her favorites, so she ate 1/3 of the pan. Everything has to be marked with a skull and cross-joints now.

I don't think I am going to start the hydro system until later in the year. I want to do some more reading, and perhaps have this water thing improved a bit. I am also going on a vacation (wife planned and it appeared on my calendar) for a few days, and the timing would be awful. It will give me the chance to get a couple of SCROGs under my belt too. The tent with the plants I posted above

will be empty next week, and I will put Lafonda in there in a hempy bucket by herself with a screen. She is currently in a 1 gallon cloth pot.

Lafonda_7_13.jpg

And I suspect my WWxBB twins will be hitting the screen in less than a week.

That's everything I've got currently, D-. It was hard for me to decide to wait on the hydro, but I would be a nervous wreck the whole time we were gone. The hempy buckets are like autopilot.

As a postscript - If you haven't tried Northern Lights x Skunk #1, get you some! Natalie comes out on top as far as early potential.

Really nice work there, GB. All your plants look healthy and well cared for.

I'll have to try some of that NL x Skunk #1. Putting it on my list. My LSD plant is growing really well right now. I'm planning to veg her until she's pretty big. I didn't set up the SCROG frame on her bucket and now it's too late, but I'll just use string to keep tying down her branches for a while to get a similar effect. I just had my hands full with other things at the beginning of this grow.

This week as an experiment I added something to Lusinda's base nutrients that the manufacturer warned me not to use because it's really a flushing agent called Final Phase (by Advanced Nutrients). I added it because it contains chelated Magnesium. Remember in my last grow I had a Mg deficiency a couple of times? At the time I tried to remedy it by adding Cal/Mag, but there's too much Calcium in that stuff, so eventually my plant suffered calcium lockout. Well, after a week of Final Phase in my current res (just 1 ml per liter) I've seen nothing bad happen and in fact Lusinda is growing like gangbusters. I'll keep an eye on her, but so far so good.
