Lighthouse BlackStar V2 240 Watt Review

Do you think we could maintain responsibility and dignity if we legalized marijuana entirely?

I have a BML 600w Spyder as my main light but I use my 500w Blackstar as some badass side lighting, great combo, blackstar works and I've been banned on other forums for saying that
I just returned from BML's website. I've never seen a LED light system so robust. For the money, I'd hope it do better than the BlackStars :joint:

I like them because they spread out the diodes, the lights can be angled to hit all of the plants, 100% Osrum LEDS and the owner used to work at Illumitex, another badass LED company. BML actually started making aqua lights and moved to horticulture

LMFAO... I actually sold my originals through Craiglist.com

Well if it's in meters, than yeah that's a capped light set up. At first I imagined a 1.2'x1.2'x2' grow tent with 5x light units lol then I realized they don't offer those sizes.

Your using the original BlackStar (V1), as well as the Chrome.

The V2 is a little different - > http://www.gothamhydroponics.com/featured-products/lighthouse-hydro-blackstar-240w-led-grow-light-uv-538.html
Haha no it's meter's, so a 4'x4'x6.5'. I didn't know blackstar did the version 2's, they are way cheaper! Are they better than the chromes? I could fit another couple in somewhere :)

The chromes outperform their predecessors but as far as comparing to the V2, who knows. I imagine the V2's are better than originals (V1), as the individual LED's are further spaced apart from one another, allowing greater spread, and also have their own holes/housing to better direct and reflect light. The only downside that I noticed was that they didn't offer a UVA 385 nm nor a Infrared 730 nm chip with this model, which they had done so in the past with the V1. I'm a little disappointed about that but they claim it's included with the 12,000k white LEDs.

Check out the Ion-8, I've been told that it does wonderful things during flowering.

My guess: V1 <= V2 < Chrome <= Ion-8

Gonna try this again .... :spew:

I was doing some research in the last hour or so and stumbled across some information about Ultraviolet lighting.

It would appear that LightHouse Hydro incorporated a UVC rated CFL into their Ion-8 model, http://www.gothamhydroponics.com/featured-products/lighthouse-hydro-ion-8-426w-led-grow-light-fsf-uvb.html hence it's light blue hue (UVC runs between 100 - 280 nm), otherwise used in the practical world as a germicidal (kills germs of all things; great for purifying water) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ultraviolet_germicidal_irradiation. The 280 nm is a target for trichrome production during late flowering, although from https://www.rollitup.org/t/trichrome-101.147136/ , 315 nm is the high point.

Basically what I noted was that the supplementation of UV's between 280 - 315 nm, through the use of CFLs and/or other lighting units, encourages the plant to produce higher proportions of THC in response to the protecting itself from the foreign wavelengths. I'm not sure how the quality is affected but I'm sure someone could chime in on that matter.

Again, I just started reading up on this subject of UV's so if I misinterpreted anything, please correct me my fellowmen.
