Things aren't going as optimal as I'd like... Pots definitely turned out to be too small, at least for the way I'm 'feeding' them. I wasn't able to water them at the start of the light period earlier this week and they did not like that...
The advantage of the cold weather in winter with my tubes is that I don't have to run the chiller, but, at the same time, the pump for my tubes does prevent the water from cooling down too fast and too far during light off period. In other words it kept the roots warm. Used to insulated the pots during winter but with 12 square pots... should probably get some of those heating mats, thinking of rebuilding my closet first so not sure yet, probably going to ride it out.
The pots I used were 6.5L / 1.7gallon, square. I potted up all except two of the plants to a 10L / 2.65gallon round pot. They weren't extremely rootbound but I could pull them out entirely easily from the square pot. They basically have an inch of soil extra on the sides and a little on the bottom now. Allows me to water enough for at least a day and a little extra, instead of starting the day entirely dry.
More pics in a bit.
