will not be to code. arguement over. You can put a 4 prong on older 3 prong dryers.
If you have a old dyer outlet, it will be a 3 prong outlet. You new dryer will with a 4 prong cord.. If what I say doesn't make sense and you KNOW that you can deal with it, OK, if you are squeamish., call an electrician, it will cost you around $80.So i just bought a dryer (for clothes) only to find that this stupid old house doesn't have a outlet for it. Its a big 3 prong one. I don't know how to go about rewiring a regular outlet for this or if thats how u even go about that but id like to learn and try it myself before i waste money on a electrician. What do?
Need ground to outlet, old one's didn't, They used to use neutral as ground, Not allowed anymore.will not be to code. arguement over.
Doesn't need to be to code. If there is an existing three prong you are allowed to put a three prong on your dryer.will not be to code. arguement over.
It is not allowed to be installed in new structures. You are allowed to use existing three prong.Need ground to outlet, old one's didn't, They used to use neutral as ground, Not allowed anymore.
Hahahahahaha. Only has to be to code if your selling. Hahahahahaha. Good joke man.Doesn't need to be to code. If there is an existing three prong you are allowed to put a three prong on your dryer.
Only needs to be to code if your selling.
A person has the right to use an existing three prong outlet.
I misread. This dude is talking about it only has a 110 outlet. He needs help or he will kill himself.
It's really pretty easy but if you have to ask you better hire an electrician. So i just bought a dryer (for clothes) only to find that this stupid old house doesn't have a outlet for it. Its a big 3 prong one. I don't know how to go about rewiring a regular outlet for this or if thats how u even go about that but id like to learn and try it myself before i waste money on a electrician. What do?
I didnt say that. I said you have the right to use existing three prong outlet. It not electric work putting a cord on a dryer.Hahahahahaha. Only has to be to code if your selling. Hahahahahaha. Good joke man.
Tell that to any homeowner or renters insurance after you burn down a house.
You have no rights to do any electrical work not up to code.... No one does. That's the craziest thing I've ever heard. Code is there to keep people safe at all times.
You can use the 3 prong outlet. Correct. You can not alter a 4 prong dryer to a 3 prong.
Im done after this. Tired of arguing electric with people. Will just stay out of it from now on.
I could of chose better wording. New work needs to be up to code but you don't have to uodate wiring every time code changes. I dont advocate anyone perform out of code or unsafe work.Hahahahahaha. Only has to be to code if your selling. Hahahahahaha. Good joke man.
