I think both candidates are very weak choices for their parties. What really amazes me is that any of you in this thread could possibly believe that you are standing on the high ground. There is no moral or social superiority in this election cycle. Am I the only human on RIU that sees this problem?
Neither of these candidates is a former governor, which is the best single predictor of a successful presidency. Although, that is not always a perfect indicator. After all, both clinton and bush were successful governors that became treasonous bastards, telling countless lies.
Yet, we know from history, senators make lousy presidents. Old war heros are pretty bad as well. Looks to me like this is probably the worst set of election options in 100 years. So again I ask, why does each of you think your candidate is so superior? What of value do they have to show us?

Your vegetarian thread is an excellent example of what I'm addressing here. I don't care, personally, much about you, your beliefs, your religion, what you say, what you do (as long as it doesn't affect me or mine negatively), EXCEPT that you're a moderator here. As such, you have more responsibility to behave with a little decorum and respect than the rest of the community. The community without which RIU would be nothing.

I think the BushII elections were pretty bad, mostly on the republican side though. BTW, what is so great about that chick Palin? The fact that she has 5 Kids in an overpopulated world, her tenure as mayor of a town, Pop. 9,000, her short learning curve as governor of a state with less than 1 million people, or her beauty queen status. all added up, she wouldn't make a pimple on Joe Bidens ass.

I believe the VP debate will turn this election into a landslide. If Mrs. Palin holds her own, McCain wins big. If she comes off as nieve or a fool, Obama wins big.
