So we didn't survive thousands, or hundred of thousands of years without governmen? With just barter and trade.
No, we barely survived it. We did not thrive. It sucked. We survived despite it. Then we evolved. Mostly.

Glad John Wayne did the right thing though. My confidence is not so high that it does well outside the fantasy world.

No disrespect for you "free marketeers" but this argument never ends and has been tedious to me since I stopped hanging out with Nick Gillespie and his ilk. But those fuckers know how to party.

I watching an episode of Bonanza. There is an argument about a silver claim. Guess what. The miners got together and held a miners court. It was handled by the people involved not an outside force.

We evolved? That's laughable.

We still kill each other over trivial things like a few bucks or a pair of shoes.

I get it. Robs ideal society probably can't exist. That doesn't mean we have to settle for the status quo.

It can exist, as a thought experiment. And evolving is a gradual, messy and continuing process.

Yeah, I saw some of that on Deadwood too. It was different than you describe. But I have read about a whole lot of summary justice being done in the last century.

My point being there will always be good and bad people and we don't need government oversight, especially as crooked as it is.

You think we need police and government to keep us safe?

Humans are flawed evil creatures sometimes. Why does something arbitrary as a badge or title make you put more faith in them?

I know we need a military and a police force to keep us safe. But they should be an extension of society - which they clearly are not - no more than Congress is. No more than the NRA represents it's constituents.

We don't need no government, we need better government. What you are witnessing is part of the process.

Seriously, I am done. No disrespect but this is one of those goofball academic arguments that I take no pleasure from.

I take no pleasure from it either. Just like the gun threads.

It is a discussion that needs to be had.

The government has been corrupt since the 1800's.

The worst USA depression was.not in the 30's, it was in the 1800's due to the railroads buying the government and somehow we think we are really making ground on removing the corruption.

I say its getting worse.

I feel that way sometimes. It helps to broaden your scope. There was once a time when my people used to ride horses thousands of miles killing everybody we met. I do not do that anymore. ;)
