Sick renderings. You should still run the 220/240 you will be able to run twice as much power with half the amps compared to 120V. It's more efficient in the sense that you can run more lights per breaker basically. Just my $0.02 anyhow. That's what I did and I ran a separate 120v outlet from the breaker to the room in 120V for the portable A/C to have for itself. Couldn't be happier, my light controller is wired direct to the panel on it's own new breaker in 240V and I can run 1K per outlet and have 4 outlets. It has a timer on it too. So as long as I wire my lights up correctly to not waste a plug for low wattage I will never run out of what this controller will let me run. I will probably never even hit half what it can do (2K watts)

Just some food for thought on the lighting.
Yeah, that'd probably work better. I thought getting rid of the HPS stuff would keep me comfortably at 120v, but I didn't realize how much stuff I'm still going to be running in the room.

Your $0.02 was worth well over $0.02, my man :-)

Very nice! Real neat!
Have you considered turning the whole thing into a wall-wall grow w/ 1 isle?
That's all I can envision with a place like that. It's all I see! Lol!
It's crazy, everything I look at, I picture a big grow room. Growing consumes my brain. Haha!
That's awesome though!
Actually, I haven't considered a wall-grow. That'd be kind of cool. I think the 4x4 works better for me though. With the doors and window (for exhaust) I wouldn't have a free wall. Cool idea though.

I'm getting the extra extension for the tent. I have 9' ceilings in the room so I can go a little taller. The 2x4 closet will house the mothers, and I'll have a table available for propagation.

I dream of grow rooms too! You have to dream it if you want to build it, right :-) Dynamic thinking and dreaming are essential in problem solving.

I'm thinking of starting a build journal, using the renderings for reference. Everything is exactly to scale, so just from sketchup I know how much space I have to work with, exactly how long the pipes need to be, etc... I did this because I was going to have to wait for money before I could start. So I was kind of forced to sit down and use that time to really think about everything I wanted this to be. I wanted something that was going to last for years and be dependable, and disaster-proof (especially since it'll now be in my house). I've already got my parts and price list. I've actually had it for a few months now (lol). I'm hoping to share some knowledge with the noobs, and get advice as I'm going along.

RIU taught me everything I know. Well, that and my mistakes (lol). I built some pretty cool hydro systems about 10 years ago. I had two Super Silver Haze colas the size of 2 liter sodas. I did a lot of DIY back then. Now, there are things I don't want to skimp on, like bulkheads.

I challenge the fools on Capitol Hill who say cannabis makes you lazy and stupid! I have programmed for years while smoking. I've designed and built everything while I was smoking. I really couldn't have done it without smoking LOL.

Peace, I'm outta here for the night. "Off like a prom dress" as my mom used to jokingly say :-)

My DIY Mini Me F & D might give you some ideas. IMHO, roots benefit from some dry periods, which helps smaller roots and root hairs to develop

The first pic used 5g totes which require more nutes than the plant needs. The air stones were for the rez, not the totes. New generation uses 3g totes (pic #2), which i have used for 4+ grows. Note the shut off valves. A 4 head manifold could be designed the valves would be used to assure equal rez per tote. If you do a web search for Hail Hydro you will find my active threads

What I meant was, turning the whole thing into a grow. All plants. Like wall to wall carpeting. Wall to wall plants.

LOL, I see.

I did think about it, actually. I wasn't thinking of wall to wall, but I pondered the idea of growing 4 plants without the tent. There were a few reasons why I didn't want to do this.

1. I wanted a sealed environment for pest control and possibly doing co2 injection.
2. With a tent I would have more room to work
3. I want to grow mothers in the closet, which would cause a light leak
4. I'm just growing for myself and don't see myself needing anymore than 4 plants.

I find it so easy to continuously think "bigger" and "more". So I started thinking of growing 6, and then 8. But then I remember how much extra work each plant presents. And that's from sprout to trim. Each plant also adds onto power consumption, nutes, water, etc...and it adds to the budget. If I'm not selling it to make my money back, which I'm not, then it's really not benefiting me in any way. I vape about 2oz a month, and want another 2oz to make edibles. I would also like to have some to store so that I could grow different strains and have them all available (think sativas for the day and indicas for bedtime). Here in Oregon, I can grow 10 plants and have 24 starts no taller than 12". So I have the ability to grow much more. But I suffer from Fibromyalgia and chronic pain from injuries from the military, and it doesn't take much to get me worn out.

I kind of want to talk about this for noobs who are trying to design their grow. I think all of us, when we were noobs, were obsessed with growing as many plants as we could. I remember adding so many suspended CFLs in my grows to get every last drop of THC out of those plants that I could. I remember pushing my nutes to the max, just below burning them (and I did burn them from time to time). But it gets very time consuming and expensive having a ton of plants to manage. So I would recommend to the noobs, to look at how much you really plan to consume, if this is purely for personal use. If you're on a limited income and you're spending all your money on all this extra equipment to grow big, the expenses don't stop there. You now have an increased power bill and water bill (for hydro), and you need to buy more nutes, which aren't always cheap.

That's just my humble opinion and others will have their's. But we're all civil, and its a friendly environment :-)

Right on! That rocks! I had debated on whether to use storage bins or go with something more related to hydro. I decided to go with these square buckets and lids. They are a little more pricey, but they would fit really good in a 4x4 because the 2" piping for the under current takes up some space. They have 8 gal. and 13 gal. buckets. I'll be using the 13 gallon ones.

I picture his room like you say with sun cloaks growing vert in aeroponics with DIY COB's over head for extra lighting :bigjoint:
That would be so cool! This is going to be like a science project as it is, with the UC system. But then, to throw those hanging LEDs into the mix...it'd look just like Christmas morning with the tree all lit up LMAO! Seriously though, that would be really cool to do. I can't let my plans start to run away again. Scope creep is so easy when dreaming up these grows!

Grow autos in there, when they hit day 40 add 10 more. No need for any separation and they produce as well when considering the time it takes. View attachment 3822611
This plant took 80 days from seed. Under cobs these things seem to take off like nothing I have seen
Sweet!

I can't wait to work with them. I knew one day LEDs were going to catch up, and surpass, HPS!

Here are a few from my RDWC in 2009 under a 600w hps...

I haven't kept up with auto's. Are they still like a ruderalis? I remember they used to not be very potent. But I see AFs everywhere these days. Are they as strong as a normal indica or sativa?

Man, I hope I'm not hijacking hybridway's thread! lol

I'm going to start on my own growroom thread today so I can Q/A stuff in there :)

The buckets I made for the renderings are to actual size, as well as the 55 gallon reservoirs.

Beautiful plants!

Don't worry about hybrid he gets a chubby when people talk autos.

They have changed allot and that's why your seeing so much about them lately. Without being told you wouldn't notice a difference. That's the truth since I sell all of mine and I do have a bunch of older hippy guys who are picky as all hell. Good breeders like mephisto spend years making genetics. They flower 300 plants at once and only take the top 6 for future breeding, crossing and back crossing. Then they start over again. You have a much larger variety and can get solid buds in less than half the time. I have also seen a 1.5lb auto even though that's rare I average 6-8 oz per plant in 80 days.

Wow! Is that from an outside grow? I always averaged between 4 and 5 oz per plant. 6 to 8 is crazy!
Smo is being humble about his growing abilities with the auto's. I am trying to learn as much from him as I can in regards to them. Just started three more auto's myself under the COB's and in the organic soil two things first time for me so we will see how the yield compares to my previous auto's under the T5's.
