What Went Wrong (The Real Reason)..

I don't have an example, but it's dangerous and frankly foolhardy to dismiss Chump supporters as just sexists/racists, without considering their own economic concerns.

It's also kinda stupid to ignore our obvious common ground as politically and economically dispossessed American citizens.
It doesn't seem like people are interested in common ground.
I would like to say everyone is just grieving and it will pass, but based on what Republicans did while Obama was in office, I ain't holdin' my breath. Both sides are digging in for a siege.

INGREDIENTS
  • 1 cup fine-grain bulgur
  • 1 pound lamb shoulder, ground fine
  • ¼ cup grated onion
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds, toasted and ground, or 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • Pinch cayenne pepper
  • Salt
  • pepper
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil, plus more for oiling the pan
  • 2 cups sliced onions, 1/4-inch thick
  • ½ cup pine nuts, lightly toasted
  • Greek-style yogurt, for serving
PREPARATION
  1. Rinse the bulgur well, then cover with cold water and soak for 20 minutes. Drain well.
  2. Put the drained bulgur, lamb, grated onion, cumin and cayenne in a large mixing bowl. Season with 2 teaspoons salt and 1/2 teaspoon pepper. Mix well with your hands to distribute the seasoning. With a wooden spoon, beat in about 1/2 cup ice water. The mixture should be smooth and soft.
  3. Heat the olive oil in a cast-iron skillet over medium heat. Add the onions and fry gently, stirring occasionally, until they soften, about 5 minutes. Season generously with salt and pepper. Raise the heat and add 1/4 cup of the lamb mixture. Continue frying, allowing the meat to get crumbly and the onions to brown nicely, another 10 minutes or so. Stir in the pine nuts and taste. Let cool to room temperature.
  4. Heat the oven to 350 degrees. Lightly oil a shallow 9-by-13-inch baking dish, then press half the remaining lamb mixture evenly over the bottom of the pan. Spread half the onion-pine nut mixture over the meat. Add the rest of the meat to the pan, patting and pressing it with wet hands to make a smooth top. If desired, score the top with a sharp paring knife to make a traditional diamond pattern at least 1/2-inch deep.
  5. Bake uncovered for 35 to 45 minutes, until the top is golden. Spread with the remaining onion-pine nut mixture. Serve warm, at room temperature or cool, with a dollop of yogurt.

....And you'll need some of this to go along with the warm kibbeh:

Recipe: Authentic Lebanese Tabbouleh Salad

Summary: This is “the” Tabbouleh recipe that mom is famous for.

Tabbouleh Ingredients (7 servings)
  • 4 bunches of Italian Parsley chopped finely, drained
  • 1 bunch of fresh green mint chopped finely, drained
  • 1 Persian cucumber chopped finely (if using regular cucumbers, use only up to 4 inches of it)
  • 5 medium sized tomatoes chopped, drained
  • 1 small white onion chopped finely
  • 1/4 cup of fine Burghul (fine cracked wheat #1)
  • 1/3 to 1/2 cup of quality olive oil
  • 1/2 cup of freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • 1/2 to 2/3 teaspoon of salt
  • 1/3 teaspoon of Lebanese 7-Spices*
* Lebanese 7-Spices contain equal proportions of the following ground spices: Allspice, Black Pepper, Cinnamon, Ground Cloves, Ground Nutmeg, Fenugreek, Powdered Ginger

Tabbouleh Preparation Method
  1. Rinse all vegetables and let dry, especially the parsley and mint.
  2. Cut stems off parsley then chop finely. Spread chopped parsley on paper towels and let rest for a few mins in order to get rid of the moisture. Parsley needs to be dry of moisture before adding it to the mixing bowl.
  3. Cut stems off mint, and finely chop the leaves. Lay them on a paper towel and let dry.
  4. Chop tomatoes into small cubes of less than 1/2 in then place in strainer to rid them of the juice.
  5. Finely chop onions and mix with 7-spices.
  6. Finely chop the cucumber.

my reason for asking is to understand what Paddy means. We now have a president who publicly mocked a reporter who suffered from nerve disease. One who publicly body shames women who don't meet his standards. Not to mention "rapists, criminals and I'm sure a few are good people" when talking about millions of mexican migrants. Swastikas are painted on school walls and the noose is showing up more and more in places where black children and young men live or go to school. Is this what Paddy says we should just accept?

There is panic and fear among minority groups. Justifiably so. Isn't now the time to turn the rhetoric down instead of tell them to get over it?

There are two major means to correct people who misbehave. Legal means and social pressure. Social pressure is what I'm talking about. It's perfectly reasonable for a group to shun those that misbehave. Calling a friend out for saying shit like "grab her by the pussy". If this kind of social pressure is what Paddy is complaining about then I'd be more concerned about him than his complaint. So, I'm asking what exactly does he mean?.

Wow a candidate running on a non-interventionist platform isn't 100% up to speed on every detail of interventionist foreign policy?
Good one dude.
I know you expect very little from someone running for POTUS. I expect a lot more. Knowing the largest city in the country we are at conflict with is something I expect should be known. Johnson is a clown and a buffoon who has no business holding the office of POTUS

Legal means is social pressure.

90% of the voting population thought differently:wall:
If you put it to a vote you will find that most Americans simply think that peeping in your neighbors window constantly looking for evidence of wrong doing is simply something that shouldn't be engaged in.

I like cooking, I've got an organic farm chicken seasoned with a smashed bulb of garlic in the cavity and salt, gonna make some roast veg around the bird so it's all sticky and gooey with fresh gravy and steamed greens
Cooking can be a form of art. Recipes are nice, but for me they are usually just the starting point.
I mode some white chicken chili from scratch yesterday that turned out to be the best batch ever. That's the downside to not using recipes -- I've got a general idea of all the ingredients but nothing was measured.

Sounds good, Whole chickens kill it. I like mine plain on the Webber(BBQ) with a hard wood charcoal. Hit it with some Louisiana hot sauce and a side potatoe salad. Discovered Scott rea recently, I made his lamb neck stew, unbelievably savory:-)

Pffffffttt the "largest city in the country" is even in conflict with the rest of the state. Everyone knows that cares to look. That one city could dictate policy for an entire country without going through the proper channels of its county and state is pure tyranny.

Your EC whiner model as applied to Congress is beyond retarded, don't think for a second that anyone reading the EC whiner diatribe doesn't understand the actual implications.

Stew is the best way to buy lamb. The neck stew from the chuck means if you get boneless stew the value shoots way up.

The beer keeps it moist while the can and paint flavor it, mmmm:-)
You can use PBR in a can if you want, ya hillbilly. I will use my jalapeno ale in pyrex as usual for the oven.
