Dude vos just told you 20-30% percent so for five gallon buckets use enough to fill the bucket about 1/3 then fill the bucket with soil and mix it. Also what sort of soil you using that has none. Any decent soil has perlite in it already.I have 1.5 cubic ft. So how man gallons of perilite do you think
Im starting with fresh soil from compost pile. Sized it up with a 1.5 cf bagDude vos just told you 20-30% percent so for five gallon buckets use enough to fill the bucket about 1/3 then fill the bucket with soil and mix it. Yah some folks like the chunky stuff I prefer the smaller stuff. Simply for the fact I feel it most evenly aerates the soil.I like the perlite with the big chunks in it.they make different sizes fyi.also,if you use too much,it will work it's way to the top.
For cheap as hell too. Also get PLAIN PERLITE ... Not that MG perlite infused with fertilizer.
Most nurseries ( garden supply stores ) have big bags ( 25/40 lb. ).
I like to think the bigger stuff breaks the soil up a bit more and doesn't seem to work it's way up to the top(so I can add less).but that also may have happened because I added too much that particular grow.Yah some folks like the chunky stuff I prefer the smaller stuff. If you are growing In straight compost besides perlite you should be mixing a decent amount of dolomite lime in there.Im starting with fresh soil from compost pile. Sized it up with a 1.5 cf bag
Yes please always measure your dirt with teaspoons make us a you tube video .I want to learn tooOh hell just do 50/50 if there is none in the dirt already.
That's real simple.......1 teaspoon to 1 teaspoon...
It does. The chunky stuff has less surface area than the smaller and just doesn't work as well.Yah some folks like the chunky stuff I prefer the smaller stuff. Simply for the fact I feel it most evenly aerates the soil.
I agree with this. I was told 50/50 at first. So thats what i did and at the end of the cycle i found that i was throwing away perlite because a lot had settled to the top and it was almost like a full layer of snow floating on the top of every water/feed. When i cropped i checked out of curiousity and there was still plenty throughout the medium, so i felt as if i had wasted A good 20/30% of the perlite i put in.20-30% of the intended pot is good
the more the better imo
