OneHitDone will one hit us if we talk too much off topic here. o_O
Yes good to avoid high voltage if possible.
Those LDD great for use with micro controllers. they add cos thou. I used them with a cheep Meanwell LPC 48V/54V driver and then i can run any cob or strips.
Or best to find 12V or 24 V strips and go with a Type A meanwell driver.
You used the LDDs just so that you could have a micro controller handle the dimming? Do you think 215v is too high?

or get hydro stores to carry it.

Reason people are so paranoid about new stuff is hydro store owners sell garbage and try to get you to buy as much garbage as possible. If a local shop can't sell it they won't want to hear about it. And they definitely don't want their customers to know about it.

Think about this - I had a 30 minute discussion/argument about leds with a hydro shop owner, he basically said everything about manufacturer rated specifications in data sheets is bullshit and nothing does over 120 lumens/watt and no one pulls more tha. One gram per watt bla bla
Bla. Tell me all these specifics about LED lights and so much about the technical limitations of LED.

Then I walk over to the side of his shop and see Sunblaster 4' LED strips that put out 5000 lumens at $159. I ask him "hey! You have leds! What's the deal with these?!"

And he replies "oh I dunno anything about them I haven't checked them out." Ya fuckin right you lying piece of shit. Hydro shops are the worst and they sell garbage. People that think a hydro shop owner knows what he's talking about is the lost sheep
wow sucks abought your local hydro store. Please note that not all are the same and not all there employees are the same. There are some very educated and do there best to help there gardeners weather its for profit or not. Lastly lumens is the very worst measurement of horticultural lighting there is. Lumens refer to light as humans see it witch is VERY different than the way plants do.

we all agree lumens is a not a great way to pick a light, however LM meters are cheap and PAR meters are not. so we do with what we have. :)

After you grow your first million heads of lettuce; who are you going to sell them to?
like with everything, i don't plan that far ahead...see below:

Tasks:
1. build overly elaborate growing system
2. fail at growing system
3. rebuild the way everyone suggested
4. fail again
5. ask more questions and actually pay attention this time
6. grow lettuce
7. grow too much lettuce
8. give lots of it away
9. get bored growing lettuce
10. grow pot
11. get arrested
12. do time
13. work in prison greenhouse
14. meet members of RIU in person
15. get out
16. go back to set 1

Why not just grow pot and lettuce together in harmony? lol

which one of you is running NFT for lettuce? i can't figure out how i go from germination to putting the rockwool cubes into the channels.

the roots don't seem to be long enough to touch the water

See my oasis cubes above?
That little trick having your oasis or rockwool cubes sitting on some perlite let's the roots grow out of the bottom of the cubes rather than being air-pruned. Then you just separate your cubes, shake the perlite off and drop them right on the bottom of your NFT channels :hump:
