I don't know if it's the same where you are but my cold water PH comes out close to 8.if I run it hot and let it cool it sits about 6.5 at room temperature. Then I ph down to about 5.5 in straight coco
Interesting, I'll try that out. Do you let the chlorine evaporate for a day or so first?

It's probably best to let it evaporate, but I don't lol.

Edit:

I remember reading somewhere that someone didn't worry about evaporating the chlorine out of their water, they were doing hydro, said it helped keep the system slime free. If you're tap water isn't overly chlorinated I can't really see the harm in not letting it evaporate. Of course this requires knowing how many ppm of chlorine there are to begin with lol.

Between you, @morvis and all the other Armoire growers out there, I'm getting motivated to convert my pantry cabinet. I've been following along since the start. Great stuff man. Malibu Pie looks tasty.
Thanks man, I'm glad I can give back to the community in some way. As for the pantry, ddooooo iiiiitttttt... :bigjoint:

I'll be converting the lower section to a veg area for a semi-perpetual soon. And maybe full control of the whole cab via Arduino... stay tuned!

In my lab i've got similar plans to automate spaces with arduino. (The Link is in my signature) I've went as far as designing an all in one PCB for it lol. I'll finish it eventually, I just have so many other projects going on right now lol.

This cabinet and all this COB/Arduino talk make me salivate. If I don't get to build something soon I might lose my mind. Keep up the good work, she's coming along nicely...even if she's a little lonely.

I do mate. But the 24 to 48 people say is bollocks. 15 minutes is absolutely fine to evaporate the chlorine.
Wuuuuutt? That's pretty quick! Source?

I just fill up my 5 gal res when it gets low after watering, then it sits for a couple days anyway until the next use.

Plantsman and some other folks way back when. I can't find the original thread. I also studied how long before my dog will drink tap water from his bowl and the 15 minutes is about right. They naturally stray away from the chlorine scent

Patience is key, take your time in the design phase. The more potential problems you can address before spending any cash, the less painful your mistakes will be lol

Interesting, but I think the bacteria/microbes in the soil are probably much more sensitive to chlorine than a dog. I just wouldn't want to take a chance on it when all you have to do is wait a bit longer to be sure.

I have trichoderma growing on the top of my coco. The chlorine would kill that

Oh wow; haven't checked your thread yet, apologies. I'll have to look into it more, thanks for the heads-up!
No worries mate. To be fair your system clearly works anyway. So dont fix what ain't broke it's just if you're ever caught short don't worry too much about the 24 hour period. I'm day 5 after flip now so next few weeks should start getting interesting I reckon

Thanks =) Glad I can inspire someone while i newb it up over here trying to figure all this shit out =).
That's what rollitup is all about mate. Green and unity. Gotta help each other out. Gonna go and take a look at your thread not that I wanna build an armoire. Just the cob

Nice setup here man. How tall is your cabinet? Looks a little taller than mine. I wish I had front access to my pots but the way the cabinet is built I don't quite have the room.

Right on. After a couple rounds on my current setup, next on the list is working in a raspberry pi for climate and lighting control. I have some handy ideas spinning around the head on that one =).
