if you could show any proof of your findings like a scholarly journal, report or testing that show that my lamps light is shooting in the air I would love to have a read. On my brand of DE you have open or enclosed reflectors neither will shoot light vertically, I actually think it would all but impossible. once again the reflectors are open design and designed to overlap since they are commercial lamps.Kaoss multi point source lighting like boards of discreet diodes like quantums are far better for overlap with reflection then a de in my opion. What do you mean by running them open. I assume you mean no reflector, if thats the case 50 percent of your light intensity is shooting upwards and 360 degrees in every direction, where quantums are emitting light at all angles downwards all light energy down at the plants. Im no way criticizing de hps i know full well what they can do but personally, i will never change a bulb or ballast again in growing
On their website they say u can run max 5 boards per driver. Im a noobs tho so what do I know ^^HI All,
I have 6 QB288 boards on the way, and I want to power them with 1 driver. Is this possible? If so, what would I use?
Thanks for the help.
thanks. In that case It might have to be 2x drivers running 3 boards each. Still no idea which driver to choose. Should be dimmable thought. On their website they say u can run max 5 boards per driver. Im a noobs tho so what do I know ^^
looks like girlscout cookiesI don't think I've ever seen buds that looked like these do. Either way, they sure are super frosty! 5x5 tent with 8x QB304, running 2 per HLG-320H-c1400A, turned all the way down.
I think you and some others may be right. These seeds came from an un-verifiable source, and could very well have been mis-labeled. I had Gorilla Glue, GSC, Tangerine Dream, and White Widow. I know which plants are TD, because they smell like a freaking orange grove. The other plants, not so much. I lost all 4 WW as males, and one each of what was labeled as GSC, and also the Gorilla Glue.looks like girlscout cookies
Impressive, green one! Here's my current set up. First QB Run or Cob.
Got currently 5 fem Green Crack 1 Blue Dream Reg and 6 small fem gorilla glue off to the left. I fucked up basically I got everything backwards and I settled on the wrong size buckets for the wrong strain oh well. Obviously that's way too many plants for a 4 x 4 tent Hempy Coco bottom fed 3 gallon bucket's hydroton on the bottom res and airstones. Six Cobs 300 W +260 W quantum board.
I tried and turned on the board and a couple times for a second looks like there could be a little bit of heat issues if I don't have environmental's done perfectly
I also have 6 qbs coming along with 2 triple heatsinks going with 2 HLG-320H-c1400Athanks. In that case It might have to be 2x drivers running 3 boards each. Still no idea which driver to choose. Should be dimmable thought.
Nice thanks. Are you going passive?I also have 6 qbs coming along with 2 triple heatsinks going with 2 HLG-320H-c1400A
For mine
Yes going passive with fans in the room circulating air they should stay coolNice thanks. Are you going passive?
So you your an HiD Grower then? That's the light style you prefer and use correct? I didn't have the newer DE Hid's but I assure you horticultural lighting group makes a light that compares to a double ended 1K. In years to come Leds will out perform any HID lights out there IMO. There doing it now, The technology they're coming out with now, a lot of the old school HID Growers are starting to switch to QB's Now and have been for a while now! Don't get me wrong there's nothing with HID lights in anyway. But when it comes to the efficiency and light penetration and electrical bill there's no comparison. I think they get blown out of the water by QB's but just IMO! After I add 2 Solacare 80watts UVA and UVB that are made in the USA and made by Orsam. I will get better Resin and Tricome production without a doubt it may take me a little bit to get them dialed in because they have to be used in certain way so it's not detrimental to your plants.12 plants per lamp.we put them in flower at 2 feet in 2 gal ebb and flow buckets @ 1150watts on double eneded lamps. by harvest they are about 4 feet. Our next room will be a 8 lamp setup at our small warehouse which is about 2400sqft. We dont run a trellis but we stake our plants and let them grow as nature intended, some defoliation but not nearly as much as most.
In our current rooms there is so much overlap because we run open DE so plants are gettting hit with light at different angles. Being there is no directional overlap with LED and more so scattered light my concern is if our yields will be similar.

I just didn't understand why you said you were on the fence with 550's because you were experimenting with 260s that made no sense to me since I wasn't talking about my light? I was just talking about adding UVB lighting to my 550? Which someone on here referred me to Solacare flower power lights. After I do get them dialed in correctly there will be a big difference in Tric production. But we will see what happens.
I understand what your saying when say it like that. There must of been Soon confusion. Did you see the Grow the guy I think it's Eric from Ledgrowlightdepot has videos of his 1st Grow I thought I heard him say but I'm not 100% positive. He running a 550 in a 4x4 his plants are doing Good. I'm trying to comparie any 550 to a double ended HiD 1K. But your going to use the 27K in a veg tent? Or going to flower with it since you have a 4K already. 1 260 isn't enough for a 4x4 IMO. 2 would work Nice 3 would be Perfect in a 4x4. I'm adding 2 Solacare 80 watt UVB lights because it doesn't matter if someone says they don't like the 550 but I get Good results! I'll get a pound every harvest just about sometimes I get a little less depending on the strain usually growing 2 plants. I have a Somango I just popped in a solo then it's going into a 15g No-Till ScrOG in a 4x4, I'll keep it posted on here I'll hit a pound with one plant. I don't know what kind of results you're looking for from a 260?
But if you went to a full QB room, you would obviously adapt to the best method for the light right? The way you do it now might not be the best way to use a new light.we are testing a 260 watt kit 4k spectrum in our dedicated veg room. there have been good results but not without some concern. the internodes are extremely tight and the plants are very small. not an issue for some but its a concern for me since I put my plants in at about 2 feet.
I run two for flower, I wouldn't dare run 3. I have to be careful with 2 due to intensity.for veg in a 4x4 1 260w will work, for flower 1 260w kitt would not be enough to make big tight nugs 2 or even 3 I think would.
