Ontario considers pricing recreational pot at $10 a gram

Or, conversely, they all band together like the oil companies to keep the price artificially high to keep investors happy. If they all charge $10/g for bulk, the province is forced to pay it. I don't see the LP's getting into a race to lower revenues. They hold all the cards right now and can charge whatever they like - and if they collaborate, a provincial retail monopoly has to pay whatever they demand and work their business model around that.

While I would not dispute the possibility of them drafting a nationwide agreement to support artificially high prices, I just don't see this being practical, especially for the few LP'S who a ticipated this and are trying to distance themselves from the others. They are some of the largest producers and an agreement would only serve to hinder their success. Plus keeping prices high will ensure that the blackmarket continues to thrive.

It will be very interesting to see how all of this shakes out, for LP's, Med, Rec, blackmarket and so on.

The only thing LPs are worried about in all this is that the provinces who have already spoken up are going to price their cannabis far lower then they expected and cut into their gouging of a market

Can't have it both ways being a high cost per gram and a strong BM as there are only so many consumers, especially if LP's don't refine their cultivation practices. At some point there is going to be a tipping point. If the BM comes out ahead, then I certainly agree that more funding will be provide for enforcement and control and people will be uneccesary persecuted.

I simply do not see how both the LP's and BM can thrive given some of the polices and draft polices that the provinces are considering based on what we have seen from the east. I suspect that BC might be progressive enough and I expect AB, SK and MB to come up with the most absurd policies in the country.

That's my point. It will seperate those who can offer product for cheap, hence pushing those who are not fiscally responsible and efficent out or to adapt.

As I've asked before, how low can the black market go? If LPs can't compete, well, they can't compete...it will only be the government's fault when this fails.

Another thought...variety is the spice of life...if cannabis has to be packaged like plutonium, how is this going to work in the storefront? Are you going to go in and look at the pkg or maybe a small sample in a bag to sniff? The dispensary I go to always lets me smell the goods...

Except our government has allowed LPs to artificially inflate their values through stock offerings. So it will be investors who suffer(shoulda chose a sure thing) not Lps unfortunately. As much as Id like to see that

Sounds like something the free market could fix. Oh wait, thats not a monopoly..........Itd be too hard to have former government officials at EVERY LP if everyone was allowed to become an LP

I made it as far as Christian Numerologist and shut that shit down hard lol

Thanks, I was about to open the link when I saw your comments, whew, dodged a bullet.

So I see speculation of $10/g up to $18/g. That is fucking insane. If that happens I may just have to start dealing again and give those ass bastards so competition. Sure glad I started growing to save piles of money and have clean smoke.
