In the uk you can have an air rifle below 12 ft lbs. For a shotgun You need a license reason for ownership and a gun safe, the police can and do random inspections to ensure compliance. For an air rifle above 12 you need a special firearms certificate, forget it. If you are a member of a gun club ( lol didn't know we had any) you can shoot some serious caliber but the weapons are secured on site and can't be moved without special permission escort etc.
We have 0.23 gun deaths per 100,000 compared to USA > 10 per 100k, yet conservatives make the case that a madman would find a truck or some...knives
Your country is one fukked up place

a single shot shotgun can be made from two pieces of pipe in a few minutes. a more sophisticated weapon takes more time and some skills but it can be done.

Nope, sure don't. Nor is it a large part of my consideration of the issue. I do know that certain universities allow concealed carry and I find that repugnant.
Well concealed carry shouldn't bother you. If you are unaware of a person such as a young female caring to protect herself from being potentially raped how does this effect you. I am not a fan of open carry (admittedly it can be intimidating to others and quite frankly is stupid as the tactical advantage of surprise is gone) (a person meaning you harm will rethink his or her tactics such as shooting you in the back) but concealed carry shouldn't offend anyone as the weapon is not visible so you have no way of knowing who is carrying.

To fill you in concealed carry permit holders commit fewer crimes(both violent and not violent ) than thier peers.

Thank you for telling me what should or should not bother me.

In this scenario, and for the sake of argument, assume the rapist is also carrying a gun. Is there more or less chance of a fatality if the victim tries to pull a gun out of her pocket whilst having a rapist point his gun at her?

Genuine question.

I would think so honestly. I'm also not advocating for her to pull out her gun once the perp has a gun pointed at her. (Likely odds she will be a murder victim at this point). As a side note a gun is used in less than 20% of rapes.

What? Spewing basesless attacks offends now? Wow things turned all friendly pretty quick.

I don't like Trump because he isn't anything(he flip flops 1000Xs. He is a dangerous individual who is partly to blame for the extreme polarization of the country. We don't have a functioning government who does the jobs they are elected to do...... The peoples will.
