@Rob Roy why are you so embarrassed about how often you use your SS number ? When you are caught with nothing to say out comes your meme. Must be hard being a slave on the plantation in your mind

Okay, then I'll ask you directly if you think people have the right to enslave others ?
First thing's first; you admit to making a straw man argument in order to reinforce your position earlier?

I like to get an idea of the calibre of the person with whom I'm having a philosophical debate.

I did make an assumption about Sneeky Ninja's view point. I assumed he believes it is wrong to enslave another person. You alluded to agreeing with me in a sense when you pointed out he would need to affirm my assumption. Which buttresses my original point.

So, as far as my caliber, it's a 30-30 lever action.

You're making far too many assumptions and presumptions. This can get you into trouble during an exchange.

We can't move forward until we agree on this rather pertinent point:

You've made an 'assumption' about SneekyNinja's viewpoint. You've then used that assumption against him to make your argument. Ergo, straw man.

If you can't hold your hands up and admit to this honorably, unlikely anyone will take you seriously.

I think I already mentioned that I assumed he believed people don't have a right to enslave others / form anothers opinion for them.

So that I don't make assumptions about your viewpoint, could you affirm that you don't believe people have the right to enslave others / form others opinions for them ?

Also, you spelled caliber funny, in my opinion.

I was speaking on the ones that provide education to the babies and fixes the road you drive on.

So you believe that in order to get some "goods and services" people must accept "bads and disservices" along with it ?

Isn't that like putting a turd on a cupcake and saying, "well at least the icing part tastes good" ?

your reading comprehension seems to be somewhat lacking today Robby.
Are you unhappy with the public schooling you received and then agreed to have your, not one ...not two but three of your children go through the same schooling ?

What you haven't done is admit to using an assumption in an argument against him. This is the very definition of a straw man. I'm loath to answer any questions until you admit you employed this tactic, it wasn't successful because it didn't stand up to scrutiny, and you'd like to draw a line under it. Else, there's no intellectual integrity from the offset.

You're sitting on 2, 7 off-suit. You've been re-raised. Fold. It's not a winning hand. We can muck the cards and start again.

The efficacy of the "education" isn't my point. It's the way that it is funded.

If you participated in something which upon later reflection you knew was flawed or wrong, would you defend the thing you participated in or try not to do it again ?

Are you assuming that I get your card playing analogy?

Property tax is an oxymoron. Didn't they teach you anything in government schools?

I am, but I won't subsequently argue that you play poker whilst being anti-gambling without providing citations, I promise. That would be disingenuous.

You can't admit you were wrong to employ a straw man argument once you've been called out on it?

I don't know if I was wrong or not concerning Sneaky Ninja's opinion on slavery etc. I think I already admitted several posts back that I assumed he was against it. So your last question seems a bit redundant.

If he isn't opposed to it, then I think his BELIEF is wrong.

Playing poker while subsequently being antigambling seems a lot like being against war, yet still supporting an involuntary government.

I think we're at an impasse.

You're allowed to make assumptions. What you did, though, was make an assumption about SneekyNinja's views (with or without context), and then proceeded to use that assumption as evidence of his own conflicting thoughts. Your unwillingness to admit this is a straw man shows weakness of character.

Thank you for allowing me to make assumptions, I'm beginning to form a few about your intentions now. So that I don't make an erroneous assumption, is your point to point out that people should offer their consent / agreement to something, before that something is assumed to be valid ?
