Very simple minded you are. Do you read?there were no southern republicans in office and your home state of New Jersey was just as red. actually the whole country went red at that point.

so your theory is that the ENTIRE country turned racist after civil rights, which is an epically stupid position to hold.
everyone voted pub because they just passed civil rights and had a lame new economic message to go along with booming new industrial expansion and relocation.
As a matter of fact, the country was undergoing an incredibly strong economic growth rate at that time and Nixon had drawn down the war effort in Vietnam so that there were no longer thousands of dead showing up at airports. Yes, the country was also experiencing a backlash against civil rights for brown people by fragile white people as they did in 2016. In fact, the black vote in the south was pretty much snuffed out in that election. Your home state, for instance, had very repressive laws and bureaucratic barriers to black voters in their states too. But really, the strength of the economy was the major factor in the 1972 election. The other factors that were in Nixon's favor, including Nixon's department of dirty tricks was all gravy.
Why does it always come down to skin color for you? You and padaraper are intensely focused on skin color as the cause of everything. Coming from the son of a real Nazi, it seems the fruit didn't fall far from the tree.
