Well, I'm way better off than I was eight years ago. But that's not because Bush was the president. I'd be even better off if he hadn't been president, if we could have had 16 years of Clinton. Bush just gave me some extra current against which to swim, two steps back for each three forward.
But I'm not voting based solely on whether *I* have done okay the last eight years. I look around me, and most of my acquaintances and friends and family are doing much worse than they were in the 90s. Obviously, the economy is in shambles, and a massive wave of job losses is spreading across the country. The Republicans were in charge of *everything* for six of those years, and held (hold) veto power for the other two, and I intend to hold them responsible when I pull that Obama lever next month. Not for my sake, but for the sake of everyone else who hasn't been as fortunate as I have over the last eight years.
