that's also something I was told to never do, I never top water, but I keep a black trash bag over the top and it sweats! so the top stays moist and the mycelium just explodes!
Yeah I mixed and matched abunch of things. I keep my sips open and grow a cover crop of clover. Had it's own benefit and issues.

So far I haven't noticed any negative affects to the sips ability to wick. Plus it allows me too take full advantage of a more robust mix of compost teas and top dresses.

would u mind trying one the way I do it? I'd like to try ur way and run my own experiment but I don't have the extra cash to go buying pumps and stuff!

I honestly don't have a single complaint the way I run mine, but I don't know any better!

Yes, em1 has lacto, psnb, yeasts, few things but basically that lacto is so strong that it out competes everything.

But you haveto add it every week.

No big deal, a little goes a long way and theres lots of fun recipes to play with that help breed beneficial bacteria and lots of other goodies

Labs
Activated labs
Em1
Activated em1.
Fpj
Ffe
Sst, corn, alfalfa,barley mungbean
Fsst
Citrust ferment
Bokashi
Kombucha
Flower power
.
Also make your own worm bin and bokashi compost :) and get lots of barley. Two row

Journal coming one of these days haha . Ive got alot of this in the works... :)

Look up probiotic farmers aliance on facebook and chris trump on youtube .

Ps you can use labs instead of sugar on alot of those recipes.

Ps labs is anerobic, we use it to ferment stuff . And its beneficial. So your res wont stink. Your soil wont go anearobic
If you use a air stone your roots will try to get into the res. And takeup res volume. your totes are big enough.

Feed em 1 through the bottom.

Copy from hyroots thread page 16

For my initial soil mix

per cubic foot
1 part ewc / compost, 1 part peat moss, 1 part aeration ( garden pumice)
½ cup kelp meal
½ cup crab shell meal
¼ cup ahimsa indian neem cake
¼ cup karanja cake
1 cup glacial rock dust
1 cup gypsum rock dust
2 cups basalt rock dust

Then I re-amend twice a year with half as much.

I feed ferments. Each once a week.
During flower Lab and Flower power FFE

During veg FPJ and Lab

Every 2 - 3 weeks in veg and flower I top dress bokashi and castings and occasionally top dress pureed malted barley.

Foliar sprays once a week
During veg and early flower I foliar spray with an alfalfa tea, Lab, Citrus ferment, and aloe. But each one separately.

During transition I foliar spray with wcap ( fermented charred animal bones) and wcp ( fermented charred egg shells).

I also add worms to the soil and have a worm bin and make my own castings. In the bin i feed the worms veggie scraps, alfalfa meal, bokashi, pulverized egg shells and charred animal bones, and left over material from making bubble hash. The bedding is a layered mix of dried leaves and coco.

I also like to use Azos sometimes when watering during veg.

i get all the extra needed micro and macro nutrients from bokashi and ferments

Air stones clog up and your literally blowing dirty air from your room into your res . Believe me your room isnt as clean as you think.

And if your pump is low .Your probably getting co2 and it will raise the ph of your res .

If your pump is high in the room you may be blowing hot ass air into your res.

Either way with em1 you dont need it. Shutoff your pumps and enjoy some peace and quiet man

Sip rez's stay aerobic due to the large surface area of the water compared to its volume, this is where the gas exchange (oxgenation) takes place. Using an air stone does increase surface area, but doesn't allow the water to hold any more oxygen, once it's reached its DO saturation level. Only reducing water temps can allow it to hold more oxygen.

Don't top water but I add top dress and wash it in with EWC tea every grow never had any neg effects, I do mulch which helps keep the top moist...

today's pic! she seems to like my living soil! I topped dressed with some of my homemade EWC, and gave her a Lil drink! slowly but surely!!!CM181107-021336002.jpg

I also made 2 more of my sip pots for a total of 4! I should be able to fit either 4 or 5 into my 5x5 tent! but I still need to get the Scrog things built before I know exactly how much space I'll be taking up! I think 4 each with about a 2ft3in x 2ft3in scrog on them should be perfect size, just waiting on the extra cash to be able to build them!

I thought about a while back, emailed them asking if it was selfed or what their lineage was. They just said their gorilla was their own selection made from the original clone to find a better stability. They wouldn't elaborate so I passed, but I'm sure its top notch.
kinda funny story a few months back a buddy of mine got a p of gg#4(at least that's what he was told) well any way he found 6 seeds from the whole thing. apperently once he found one he finger fucked the entire pound looking for more! the funny part is he doesn't really grow lol! he did that just to give them to me (great guy) but I don't think he knew that I've had bad luck on bag seeds in the past!

well anyway to make a long story short, I wasn't going to use them but now that I have the real gg#4 I popped them just to do a comparison! so far they don't look too happy I may kill them but not just yet!

so has anyone else here grown out the true gg#4? I'm trying to find some more info on it, but there is so many fakes, and crosses of it, I don't really trust a whole lot of the info I'm able to find!
