Question on covering a sip

Nice clean set up, bud..

I think the X slit will be fine for now. Or loose, but still darkened. If you want to feed the fungals, now would be prime time.. BSF Insect frass and hard red wheat grokashi, being some of my fav choices so far, but even organic oats, ground into flour, sprinkled on, will help get the fungi party started. Just got 9/10 97 Bluemoonshines to pop, in pure castings, big up, and bless up!
Thank you very much. It's been sitting for about 2 weeks now, and probably about 3 weeks to go until a plant will go in it, I will do that asap!

I'm really excited. I've grown organic soil, but not like this. It is a coin toss between DJ Short's Blueberry F2 Regs, or Canarado's Nilla Wafers I'm excited about either of those, too.

Damn thats a tough one. Maybe otta do both lol

I love my DJ Short BB Diesel bx, most terpy soothing strain I have, perhaps..a beauty to photograph when happy (which isn't easy compared to others but love it despite it being a bitch lol..my pheno anyway, total opposite of my 98 bubba) but yeah, those wafers sound tasty and nice and different. Right on man!

I will definitely check out the SIP thread.

I mixed hay into the top few inches, and topped with it.
then I covered it. I'm going to cut an X slit for the plant.
Should I poke holes all over it so that it can breath a little better?
Should I rip it off?
Thanks.

I am going the route of grokashi on the top and EM 1 in the rez soon here.. that probiotic growing seems like exactly where I want to be and the fungal boost the grokashi gives seems amazing! it seem like the perfect time for you to add it if you are interesting!

I am going to get the frass and grokashi for next time for sure. So I can go to the organic health nut section at the store and get organic oats in one of those clear scoop bins, put it in the food processor until it is powder, and sprinkle that on and it will start the fungal party?

what do you think about using alfalfa and mj stems instead of straw?
that should work, really anything to keep the moisture in will work. I personally am going to add the grokashi to get that amazing microbial and fungal growth in there which really helps to make all the good stuff you are putting in there for the plants break down and get into the rhizosphere for the roots to uptake.

the growkashi will have the microbial life... the oats are food for them I believe
