I agree 480w of LED is not equiv to 1000w hps but youre goi g off the other end of the extreme here. To say its equiv to 250w hps and that you need to keep it 40cm away, oh and that a watt is a watt....

But yeah dont forget i did say for me they are shit.
Maybe im a fkn shit grower i dont know.
But i just have had my best results with cmh/hps combos.

As for cooling i didt see much of a difference.

1500 for 960w of samsungs. Dialled down to 900 or 850, they will crush a 1k hps, de or not.

Spread is far better, temps are cooler. If you live in cold climates, you're best off lowering your exhaust to keep the girls toasty.

your running a 1000w de hps at the moment yeah? Do you see much difference in that and
The 600w hps and 315cmh?

have you tried a single ended vs double ended 1000w hps grow to see the difference (it’s not much)

For areas that hit zero or under through winter hid lights including hps and cmh are hard to go past for there added heat. Saves having to run a heater and literally wasting power. I’ll always run a hps before a heater.

No i have not the 315 cmh an 600hps tent i run actually runs hotter than the DE when its set to 1100.

I only bought the de as a mate got busted by real estate an i got em cheap.

yeah I’m not going to say they are the best or that they’ll replace a 1000w single ended or otherwise but they do have there place but Tasmania isn’t one of them. Like in qld a hlg 550 vs a 600 or 1000w hps might be the difference of needing an ac or not

your not a shit grower. LEDs just dont suit us down here and they do require a different feeding.
CMH plus HPS rocks.

Id move lights closer and restrict exhaust before that but yeah i could imagine youre right. Things dont get below zero in my neck of the woods.

generally leds prefer a little more magnesium and phosphorus. And yeah tas is definitely too cold over winter. Personally I keep my grow at 27-30 for leds even over winter but let it get to 35 ish over summer. Hps would cook plants are that temp but led handles it fine.

the amount of effort you’d have to put in for led to give You the results you want wouldn’t be worth it probably. You have an advantage and the possibility to run hids year round which many can’t do and with only minimal or no ac
