I go to a meeting everyday at 6am. It's part of my routine and I haven't been for the last 2 days due to the regulations of not being able to gather. Anyone else in this predicament with their meetings? I also have a sore throat and I'm grateful to have a job where my boss is paying me to stay home. He's taking precautions and I get to spend time at home. I just felt if I wrote this out I would feel a little better.

That's fucking sad, that lack of community.
Yea, I was a friend of Bill for awhile, but I personally found it too cult like for my taste, so I've just carried on trying with the help of Naltroxon to curb my desires for the daemon rum, alas, too no avail.
Brilliant idea though, go for it.
Who knows, an online AA meeting might actually work for me.
I'll give it a shot (pun intended)

Thank you my man. I appreciate that very much. I too find that some people take it to a cult type level but I'm more of a keep my mouth shut and a sit back and watch kind of guy. You learn who takes it serious and those that are just there for the recognition. I don't have a sponsor and have been good without. The war stories like you said is what keeps me there and are good reminders. Thank you again.

Find the oldest man/woman in the room that doesn't say much, offer them a cup of coffee & say would you help me & be my sponsor.
If their dedicated they will & you'll be good.
Stay away from the loud mouths that have done everything, you want the quite one who has been sober for 20 years.
It's a hard road to be addicted to alcohol, of that I can personally attest, but with a shit load of effort it is possible to keep the bottle down.
Good luck my friend, and it's always one day at a time as they say, and that is very true :)

If anyone hasn't been to a meeting. People may still be gathering. I've been going, there's like 3 guys in a parking lot where we talk at a good distance away from each other. Just putting it out there if someone is in need, they still can get some type of in-person interaction. Phone calls and online don't do too much for me. Anyway, stay healthy people ❤

My first time go around I didnt have the option of meetings. Years later I got into the rooms. I used what worked for me and marijuana maintenance through the rest. I went nearly daily the 1st year. It saved me from the bottle. 10 plus years later i am thankful for bill and these rooms. PM if you need to vent or whatever I can only share what worked for me though. My life has become manageable and I am thankful for that.

I've been walking this path for 20 years now and this is the first time I haven't been able to fellowship through meetings. I think the hardest part of all of this has been the loss of routine. Made me pick up the phone more...

As someone who drinks.. good on ya. If it's not the thing for you.. do what helps. I've seen a lot of news articles about AA going live.. as in live streams and stuff. Good luck to ya dude

Yup, weird shit man. The very first one I went to was an actual NA meeting. I had no idea what the difference AA, NA. I found a meeting location in a little booklet they gave me a few miles from my house, was able to ride my bike lol. That shit was deep man. And then the prayers and shit. But i’ve always said, if it works for you great just wasn’t for me.

I’ve been court ordered to do shitloads of meetings when I was younger. This is back when the courts still did that. Now it’s usually your lawyer who recommends you go and get some signatures to make you look better in court. It never worked for me because I never wanted it to work. Out of the 100 I got ordered to go to when I was 18, I think i went to like 8? I went to three in a row and then just pretty much forged the rest of the signatures :-)
