1 Gallon dwc, first grow without soil

Well she's still alive This pump moves some water, appears to put plenty of oxygen in there. Best part is its forcing that oxygenated water right into the root mass. Plant looked super happy today, fingers crossed that she stays happy another 9 or 10 weeks

I use one in my bubble cloner for the winter months.Seems to work and keeps the temp up.

Yeah im putting a frozen 20 oz bottle in there at lights on, them swapping it out about halfway through the cycle. When I replaced the bottle earlier, water temp was at 71. I need to wrap the whole tote with the reflective insulation I have left over.

I don't have a lot of extra room in my tent. Ive got a couple sip containers that take up most of the space. I wanted something with a small footprint. I figure small containers will give me smaller plants. Wanted to try dwc with a minimal investment, and minimum space. Tote is 14"x21", fits nice and snug in the corner.
I was wondering how big an issue ph will be with such small containers.

It will be an issue at first until the roots get large enough to stablize the ph....instead of me speaking as if i'm saying facts I'll speak from my personal experience on my first hydro-grow...which is like two separate hydro-grows because I unlike YOU who is smart...decided I would try first w/o asking for help...koodios for you for doing that now. After I ruined my plants...I went to a single 2 1/2-gallon bucket for my GSC. For the first two weeks or so I felt like I was adjusting the ph every day. But I found once the roots started to hit the water and the bennificals started getting a good colony my ph stabilized. I also use nutes that self regulated PH...
I think mine are turning out OK...still got 3 weeks to go or so.....Stoked!

I overdid it and bought a mini AC unit which I can use to call my tent/my tank AND my office....but I'm thinking about getting a water-cooler next run....I just felt so weird sticking frozen anything because, and this may just be my imagination, I felt like whatever I'd stick in there would just float right up against the roots....and I'm definitely no plant whisperer, but it can't be all that great to flash freeze the roots. But Heat is ALWAYS a huge concern in dwc if you don't live in the artic or have some way to cool the water....but fuck man...when you see a soil plant next to a dwc plant the extra effort will be worth it
The GSC on the bottom left and Bottom right is the exact same cut off the same clone, one in soil one in DWC...I didn't realize it would be this drastic of a difference which is why I wanted it to be side by side...This pic is a few days old but I'll tell you that Hydro GSC is going to rival the dirt Blue DREAM!!!! It's insane, the dirt blue dream is right behind it.....but I'm definitely going to get at least twice the production out of the hydro GSC as the dirt one. I hope soil has Amazing taste or something, I've been adding straight blackstrap to the feedings, because if taste is even remotely close I'd conclude that soil is for the garden and hydro for da tent! Unless you don't want to deal with PH, Temp, Bennies, Root-Rot, TDS/EC blah blah blah

this is my first go at dwc, my wrapped 5 gal buckets seem to stay between 67-69 degrees under a 400 watt mh. room temps range between 70-76

and don't let them go 40 days before 12/12 lol, that was my test plant in a 3.5 gal bucket but that 4x4 tent was occupied until then, , had no idea how fast they grow in dwc.

Yeah the growth is definitely fast!! I flipped the tent last Friday. Ive got 2 sips in there as well, and the growth has been explosive. My first full run with the sips, things got out of control fast

My 2 beans for the dwc popped in their jiffy pucks. I have read that some people just put the jiffy puck in their net pot. Yall have any experience with this?

I've done this on my last DWC grow and used some rooting cubes this time, but still organic matter. The only issue I had was with the drip system carrying some of the organic material into my reservoir,but hardly anything. I guess I had enough Hydroguard in there because nothing ever came of it but I simply removed the drip system and it actually worked better. Roots started searching for water instead of bringing it to them.

Speaking of harming roots, the little seedling that I broke the taproot off of, has finally recovered and is growing nicely. Put it in one of my sips. Took it about 2 weeks to start growing again, but its picking up steam. Hard to let a known fem with good genes go.

I never worry about even attempting to remove the cube, without a top feed drip, nothing gets carried down to my reservoir.

She's still alive Just been keeping the ph where it needs to be, and topping off the reservoir. Slowly increasing the ec level. Gonna swap out the res with fresh water/nutrients tonight.
