Coco VS soil. Same strain. Planted at the same time. Unreal

This is my first real attempt at a coco grow using canna coco mixed with some chunky perlite at the bottom for good drainage. These are 2 strawberry coughs that were planted at the same time. The coco plant is twice the size of soil. I'm thoroughly impressed. When I did my first coco transplant into a 5 gallon hempy the roots were thick, white, and ran through the coco top to bottom. All perlite only grew a few tap roots to the res and then established roots in the 3" res only. I think it seriously inhibits the growth due to a less than robust root system having been developed. More roots makes stronger plants. Coco for the win:. Jack's 3-2-1. Before anyone says something I only just transplanted the SC on the right this afternoon. The soil plant is growing so slowly it's going to be another week or two before she's ready for the big pot and truth be told I can't stomach the idea of using soil. She's going in coco for sure. Soil is just too dam slow.

So you put pot of coco which is able to support full tent next to the ridiculously small looking size of potting mix which is obviously restricting plant growth… what was the sense?

Right..? Grow log? he just says Soil vs Coco, as if all soils are even remotely equal....which soil? Organic? Fertilized? Super soil? bag? what ph was the soil set at? Did you add water at the proper ph to match the substrate? No Air pots? Fabric? Idk OP I feel like you're going to get pummeled here....This is your post in a nutshell..... Hey... this apple is better than this orange, Well hmmm.....what kind of orange, your readers ask? No you dont get those details... you must trust Im a capable soil grower....and my choice of soil/Mycos/perlites/amendments....my feeding schedule...my ability to maintain the eco system, my watering, my ability to know the limits of how close I can have the light to the organic substrate, my choice of light and darkness schedule.. I mean Coco is NO WHERE NEAR soil as far as watering schedules..., coco coir is used for water retention, why compare it with soil? watering the same? Because that says alot about your watering knowledge.......(also if you have baby dick roots in a legit organic soil grow with a proper eco system......I cant attest to the fact you dont know what you're doing) and Im not saying one is better than the other, as I dont think that can be proven, its personal choice, coco needs to be watered a lot more......And some people prefer its retention properties and ive seen SUPER nice coco grows......But on the flip side..... I could show you pictures from overgrow.net from 2001 all organic soil grows that SLAP anything you've ever grown....in any substrate... does that mean soils better? no....so whats the point of premising like this? to start arguments? A simple, declaration of hey, i prefer this over this and heres my testing... instead.. its just insulting to anyone who choices soil grow, as someone who is choosing an inferior method...Then the first person that asks an obvious question....you call a cupcake...and insult them....just...doesn't seem legit.

Here’s the same clone of Sour Diesel in a .8gal coco & 1 gal promix with organic amendments
coco is the white pot & promix soil in the blackView attachment 5027773
I could be wrong but the medium on those 2 big plants looks very dry. Leaves are curling up a bit on both plants with some chlorosis on the coco plant. What kind of fertilizer regimen are you running? ec? Temps? Check for mites? You've got damage on the small seedlings in soil too. Usually damage that early on is bugs eating your leaves.

Yea, good eye. Forgot to water yesterday. The white pot is canna coco following their regime & the black pot is promix with soluble organic nutrients & KNF inputs. Also, I found this guy snacking on some sap the other day and the rH is dry. Definitely not getting the best outta the VPD from this tent & to tell you the truth not really worried about it so much for veg anyway. If anything I need to slow them down till I have more flower space anyway.1636823209390.jpeg

You have not provided sufficient root space which is crucial in peat based potting mixes to keep the growth going smooth and you got your plant in coco to the stage when it works like hydro taking benefits of its growth rate. Than you compare it like no sense… I read and carefully check all the provided info and pics on every post I answer. Anyway I did not want to insult you. Nice and happy plants. Good luck!

weirdly enough i had 2 different times I had that same fucker on my grow....do they actually suck sap/damage plants? And to @jonnynobody and your...whatever that reply is... listen I obviously understood the reason the pots were different...Its you premise of this whole post.. was my point. I mean I know Bog would be laughing at your post right now if he was still around, holding a godly plant in his left hand, face covered, bathrobe on of course...and a hoover vacuum in his right hand that was half the size of the biggest bud on his organic soil grown sweet tooth #3 or bogbubble...and taking a peak at your past work...about twice the size of anything you've done in coco either....And thats not to say many people do have that skill...because they dont. including me... But to premise the post as, soil is dog shit... too slow...doesn't compare at all... is complete horseshit. As proven 20 years ago, with worse soil options and worse light options and way harsher penalties if you got found out....so in essence harder grow spaces...more hidden if you will...... Although i do feel.. for the average grower, great yield can be achieved with coco...or a bunch of dead yellow plants....one or the other

Ah found the pictures... Soil grows. using 5-10 gallon pots.

I would guestimate approximately 6 weeks ago. I placed seedlings next to clones known to have mites and they ravaged all of my plants before I got it under control. Live and learn. What can ya do? I was in the habit of writing the date on the plant markers and I need to make it a habit moving forward. Having the info is nice.

I'm not growing in peat there limp biscuit. I'm growing in a coco hempy which is water to waste hydro. Both peat and coco are inert mediums. When used alone or amended with perlite what you have is water to waste hydro. Glad I could help sort that out for you. I sincerely hope you do not have an automobile. The thought of you driving is terrifying. This whole reading comprehension issue seems to be an epidemic.

I used it before.. All I have are some pics from 2012

Good god. Where to even begin. A) I really hope english is not your first language. B) The rate of growth in soil is exponentially slower than the rate of growth in hydro. This is a known and accepted fact of life. Those are lovely very large plants. Have you any idea how long a grower must veg a plant in soil to get a plant that large? A hydro grower could dam near make it through 2 harvests before that soil grower taking the time to veg a plant of that size would make it through 1 harvest.

and taking a peak at your past work...about twice the size of anything you've done in coco either....

I've used #4 chunky perlite for the last 4 years. This is my first coco experiment in over 5 years and I did not post any pictures of that grow. Dishonesty is not a desirable personality trait. It looks good on you though.

But to premise the post as, soil is dog shit... too slow...doesn't compare at all... is complete horseshit.

I did not state soil is dog shit. That's your interpretation influenced by your severe reading comprehension issues. The only thing I stated is that coco grows significantly faster than soil and for that reason I will no longer grow in soil. Rock on keyboard cowboy.

Worse soil options? Are you smoking crack? You just showed your severe lack of knowledge. Rock on buttercup. Your sentence structure just makes my head hurt. Worse lights? HPS lighting is highly effective today just as much as it was 20 years ago. With the introduction of high efficiency LED lights there's simply no need to operate power sucking HPS lights anymore. That does not mean they aren't highly effective. Don't ever change. You're the best!

Absolutely and wholly incorrect. I did figure it out. I'm using coco moving forward. Thanks for stopping by.
