I second Vincenzio. Those are very close nodes and you'll definitely need to keep the air flowing. You'll learn that trimming the lower stuff sitting in the shadows will improve the air flow, reduce risks and help plant growth. Google lollipopping vids or check the tutorials on GrowWeedEasy.com which also has a great section on diagnosing plant problems. Learn how to handle powdery mildew.
I've been wondering about that. I've been itching to get rid of some of the stuff that I know will amount to nothing so I can open it up a bit but all the resources I've been able to find say that it should be done when you switch to 12/12 or within a few weeks after that. Is it safe to do it while it's still vegetating? Is it a bad idea to do it within a couple weeks before flipping?
The double stemming is called fasciation. Don't waste time with it. Cut it off to send growth elsewhere. The bud is always shit.
Awww, that's disappointing. I was looking forward to seeing a huge bud on that one! Thanks for the tip, I'll remove it. Do you think it would make a decent clone at least?
A perpetual grow with 2 4X4's is going to keep you a busy man. Consider those beauties will each soak up 1/4 gallon/day.
Considering you want a perpetual grow, if you have the seeds or you learn to clone you will probably lean to filling the tents with more plants rather than training a few & waiting for growth.
I'm all set up to take clones before moving the plants to the flowering box, good seeds are too expensive for me! I've been wondering about going with a SoG and just having a single mother plant in the veg box, but I was going to wait until I got one or two full cycles done so that my decision will have more experience behind it. So far the water hasn't been much of an issue, but I'm only half way done with one cycle by now... As long as the water consumption stays below 15 gallons a week I won't be too inconvenienced by it (I think).
How are you going to cure all of that? If you fill your canopy and avoid pests, mold, root rot, etc. you will be getting at least 16 ozs. I got 25 on my last run in a 4X4.
I'm anticipating having 2 weeks or so post-harvest where fresh clones will be in the smaller cloning area taking root and getting ready for the veg box. During that time the veg box will be empty so I was thinking I'd hang the harvested plants up in there while the clones are still rooting. I'm hoping that's enough time for them to dry out and also hoping that I can keep the environment within the temperature and humidity ranges that people say are required.
Thanks! I'm glad to hear it
