I have seen no news articles to dissuade me from the belief that the Ukrainians are getting exhausted and are up against the ropes. There’s no point in sending them the equipment a week too late.

I completely disagree with your “ruse” hypothesis.
i agree with ya there, i haven't seen any articles that say Ukrainians are getting exhausted or they're against the ropes either....infact i have seen them put RA into a meat locker of sorts, and right now it's Soledar and Bakamut.....every day RA looses a battalion there trying to hold, and on the Kherson front it's been an artillery battle through and through as to a possible softening up before the main push through there.....in the end we'll see

i haven't really seen much that implies either...they seem to be holding their own still, at least for the moment.
they do have to be fatigued, but they're still getting a lot of aid, and they're still fighting for not only their lives, but the lives of their families, and their right to freedom. that has to be a lot better motivation than putin's stale bullshit, when all of russia has to have seen the death toll by now.

I’m waiting to see what happens next. With the changes in command, I think Russia is upping its game, perhaps to a dangerous degree. In the meantime I hope the West is generous to Ukraine, especially with antiair and logistical/medical goods, and not only for the fighters. Some timely armor could turn the next big push into this generation’s Bulge, after which Russia will relentlessly be pushed to the pre-‘14 borders.

If Russian command decides that it’s nuke or lose,

We will soon see I figure, in any case I'm all in favor of giving the Ukrainians all they want, but deception is a part of war and we have seen them employ it where and when they can.

get the strange feeling someone is a little paranoid....and yes i'm talking to you Moscow

Drone defense, incase Ukraine plays hardball.

The Russians ordered their troops to clean shave, but their chemical equipment is shit, out of date and poorly maintained and probably in short supply. If the Ukrainians are clean shaven too, it could mean trouble and extra equipment to deal with it sent to them. If Vlad is stupid enough to use chemicals on a city, it will be game over for him, he might as well use a nuke. If he uses it on the battlefield the Ukrainians might be better prepared for it than the Russian troops, and it could turn into a fiasco for the Russians and actually cause their defeat.
