You'd think a country with as keen an interest in the past as russia has, would quit making the same mistakes over and over again...
https://www.reuters.com/world/europe/russia-tells-macron-dont-forget-napoleon-when-you-talk-regime-change-2023-02-19/
But that would assume they're actually politicians and not robbers (and much worse) wearing politician disguises
Regime change and don't be shy about it, we can't talk to Putin, ya might as well negotiate with Hitler while the death camps finished their job, we remember our history too. He committed crimes against humanity and war crimes, ya might as well make a deal with the Devil and it would set a bad precedent.

No way will Joe let Ukraine lose this war and by lose, I mean not eject Russia from all of its territory and destroy its military. Prepare for a Russian attack (with what I'm not sure) and then go on a big counter offensive when conditions are right, all the equipment arrives, and the Russians are worn down even more by futile piecemeal attacks on defensive positions. I figure that is the general advice, make republican support a moot point this fall and also take Russian money held abroad and start giving it to the Ukrainians for further financing if required. I think the point is to make a very big splash this spring and summer on the battlefield in Ukraine and take back a lot of turf, while at least cutting off Crimea from Russia.

Lethal aid from China.
Look on that as more leverage with America and Europe on trade and business than a real threat, they won't provide lethal aid, but can help them in other ways and make the Russians dependent on them. When the Chinese move into the shattered Russian empire in the east, their dependency on China will count even more. China does 10X it's trade with the EU and N. America than with Russia, then there are other Asian allies too, they won't risk that, but could say support the Russian railways with vital parts and other things that don't involve arms. Don't forget, a weak Russia is in China's interest the most, since they will gain the most by the Dissolution of the Russian federation. China would dominate central and northeastern Asia economically with soft power and access to the world for most of them. They could do this at Russia's expense using soft economic power and it would be ok with the west while uplifting the lives of people living there with railways, roads, infrastructure and jobs.

Crimea is strategically impossible for the Russians to hold, once they are ejected from the rest of Ukraine. It will fall to Ukraine eventually when the Kerch bridge is destroyed, and the Ukrainians start getting Russian seized money. We will see how far Ukraine can go this summer, by then I figure the Russians will be in serious trouble in Ukraine and at home.

Let's talk about the US, Ukraine, and Crimea....

The ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine continues to escalate, with tensions increasing on the temporarily occupied Crimean peninsula. Recent explosions at several military sites in the region, including the illegal Crimean bridge, which the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation has labelled a terrorist act organised by the Ukrainian special services. The Ukrainian government has not officially confirmed involvement in these incidents. But the Office of the President of Ukraine is already preparing personnel to work on the liberated peninsular after Russia's military defeat.

Biden makes surprise trip to Ukraine to meet with Zelensky

President Biden made a surprise stop in Kyiv, Ukraine, on Monday, meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and bringing word of new aid, as the nation prepares to mark the one-year anniversary of Russia’s invasion.

“It’s good to be back in Kyiv,” said Biden, who sported a tie in Ukraine’s colors, blue and yellow. It is Biden’s eighth visit to the city.

Ambassador Bridget Brink greeted him on arrival, and Zelensky and Ukraine’s first lady, Olena Zelenska, welcomed Biden as he arrived at Mariinsky Palace just after 8:30 a.m. local time.

As the leaders headed into a bilateral meeting, Biden noted the reason behind the unannounced stop: “I thought it was critical that there not be any doubt, none whatsoever, about U.S. support for Ukraine in the war.”

He noted that while some in Congress have called for a deceleration of aid to Ukraine, there is broad support for the nation’s cause. “It’s not just about freedom in Ukraine … It’s about freedom of democracy at large.”

In joint remarks with Zelensky at the palace, Biden said more aid would be sent to Ukraine, with details coming later Monday. The package will also include military equipment.

“Russia’s aim was to wipe Ukraine off the map,” Biden said. “Putin’s war of conquest is failing.”

Zelensky thanked Biden for his leadership and Americans for their support from the start of the war.

He said discussion is ongoing on the U.S. sending long-range missiles to Ukraine. Noting the aid package Biden announced, Zelensky said the moment stood as a “clear signal that Russia’s attempts of relaunch will have no chance.”

“This conversation brings us closer to the victory,” Zelensky said. “Today our negotiations were very fruitful …They were very important and crucial.”

Biden told Zelenksy of Americans’ “unwavering support for the nation’s independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity.”

“So many have kept the Ukrainian people, particularly women and children, in their prayers,” Biden said. “They can’t fathom the idea of the shelling of everything from orphanages to schools to the like. It’s barbaric.”

After almost two hours at the palace, the leaders traveled a short distance to St. Michael’s Gold-Domed Cathedral in central Kyiv, where they took a walk around the complex, a symbol of Ukrainian resistance.

The cathedral’s sky-blue and golden buildings gave shelter in 2013 to pro-Western protesters under a president backed by Russia.

It only makes sense, but apparently Blinken has Intel. He doesn't ruffle his feathers easily; I can see his discomfort. So that bothers me.
