going from the previous 2 gallon to 3 gallon? i would've personally gotten a 5-7gallon for that. If you check the solo cup challenges you can flower whatever size you want it will simply be more work for you to keep it watered consistently.

Small pots don't work with Soil usually unless your feeding liquid nutrients or re-amending it with fertilizers. If you plan to use soilless (peat, coco, perlite etc) then you can definitely get away with 3 gal pot, especially with coco.

Smaller pots = smaller plants as well. I can show you right now that I have 3 x 5 gal plants for every 1 x 10 gal plant in my flowering room in Coco/Perlite. The 10 gals still drink on a daily basis and grow much larger than a "5 gallon" pot. This can easily be resolved with more plants, but that is something you should consider with smaller pots.

Not saying they don't work either, 3 & 5 gal setups are very common. Just like @Jjgrow420 stated it comes down to personal preference and experience.

5 gals (3 per tray)

10 gals (1 per tray)

Same veg time, same nutrients, same coco/perlite different pot size.

Is that a drain line built into your stands?
Yes it's TheBucketCompany 22" drain trays. They connect to 1" PVC then I plumbed it to drain into my basements sump with a little DIY enginuity. They are very good stands and come with 1" PVC legs (as seen in pics) but you supply the pipe that runs horizontally to your drains.
