How far do ATACMS missiles hit? Map
Ukraine received long-range missiles from the United States. This was announced by Verkhovna Rada deputy Alexey Goncharenko. A source familiar with the situation claims that these missiles, secretly supplied by the Ukrainian Armed Forces, will enhance the Ukrainian army's ability to launch long-range strikes at an important stage of its counteroffensive. URA.RU provides information on the characteristics of ATACMS missiles in terms of range.

Reaction to the supply of missiles to Ukraine

Russia:
  • The supply of long-range ATACMS missiles to Ukraine, according to Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, will not change the essence of the military conflict between Ukraine and Russia. He said that Kyiv was prepared to inflict a strategic defeat on Moscow and accused the West of open war against Russia.
  • The missiles have a flight range of up to 300 kilometers and can achieve high accuracy in hitting targets down to several meters. This raises concerns as they could be used against border regions, including Crimea. This was stated by analyst Alexander Mikhailov.
  • Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said that the transfer of longer-range American missiles to Ukraine would be crossing a red line and would turn the United States into a direct party to a military conflict. Russia reserves the right to an adequate response if the United States makes a decision on such supplies.

Ukraine:
  • Advisor to the head of the office of Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky, Mikhail Podolyak, said that long-range Western ATACMS missiles will not be able to compensate for the volume of Russian weapons. He noted that despite receiving these missiles, the difference in quantity with the Russian arsenal remains significant.
  • Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Alexey Danilov said that Ukrainian military personnel do not plan to use ATACMS missiles to attack Russian territory. He noted that Ukraine has agreements with partners on this issue.
  • The head of the office of the Ukrainian president, Andriy Yermak, said that the effectiveness of Ukraine’s offensive is determined by the US decision regarding the transfer of long-range ATACMS missiles. He emphasized that this is not just a whim, but a real necessity on which the effectiveness of the Ukrainian army depends .

AP: The US did not want to transfer ATACMS missiles to Ukraine in large quantities
The US has sent "less than a dozen" ATACMS tactical missiles to Ukraine. This may indicate Washington’s reluctance to send powerful weapons to the Ukrainian Armed Forces. This was reported by the American international agency Associated Press.

“The small number of missiles (less than a dozen ATACMS - URA.RU note) underscores the US reluctance to send powerful weapons,” reports AP . The agency cited several knowledgeable sources.

ATACMS missiles were secretly delivered to Kyiv. Some of these missiles are equipped with banned cluster munitions.

SVO in Ukraine October 17: Kyiv received ATACMS missiles
Verkhovna Rada deputy Alexey Goncharenko said that long-range missiles from the United States have been delivered to Ukraine. Several ATACMS missiles were secretly delivered to Ukrainian territory. URA.RU provides the main news about the Northern Military District in Ukraine by the evening of October 17.
  • Kiev has received long- range ATACMS missiles from the United States, enhancing its long-range strike capabilities during a critical phase of the counteroffensive. One version of the missiles is armed with banned cluster munitions . The transfer of weapons was carried out in secret so as not to give Russia time to prepare . The head of the Kherson region, Vladimir Saldo, said that residents of the city of Skadovsk have already become victims of shelling by the Ukrainian Armed Forces using ATACMS missiles. Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky confirmed the use of American missiles.

Skadovsk is in Kerhson and a HIMARS can easily hit it, hardly worth using up a rare ATACMS.

He will, he's outsmarted them every time and now has them over a bit of a barrel over Israel. Joe has got an amazing amount done, considering what he's dealing with.
Look at the funding Biden had agreed to with McCarthy, funding for Ukraine. It did not happen. He sure outsmarted McCarthy.

It was only because McCarthy lost his job, he came through on plenty of other things that will make a big difference for the future, he's already got more done than most presidents, despite congress. The GOP house is barely able to keep the lights on and incapable of electing a leader, if they want to keep the lights on and support Israel, they will need to support Ukraine too. However, Mitch is losing his grasp on the republicans in the senate, and it is crazy town there too, but they can still get a budget through. I figure when Trump goes away the death threats will tone down and it might allow the centrists more latitude to compromise. The vast majority of people will blame the republicans for, yet another shut down, and when the social security checks stop coming in and the layoffs happen, they will remember whose fault it was and not care so much about the details.

“banned cluster munitions”

Russia is not a signatory to the convention against cluster munitions.

It continues to employ its own cluster munitions against Ukraine.

You seem to have missed the GOP not including funding to Ukraine, when McCarthy was still speaker.

It is not an acute issue yet and it will be fund Ukraine and Israel to keep the lights on or fund neither and keep the lights on. Wait a few weeks, the republicans can't settle on a speaker FFS and it looks unlikely they will. It's not Biden's fault if the republican house is dysfunctional.

They will try, but their past has caught up to them and even the base will blame them. They are divided on aid for Israel, the nazi wing won't like it and the magats won't like support for Ukraine, most of them or a sizable minority support aid to both though. Most people in America know who to blame for government shutdowns, not even foxnews can spin it.

I agree and with a big reserve of different grades of troops, once they are out of the army, they go into the reserves, some until middle age and continue training on some weekends etc. The main thing is a strong economy is needed to have a strong defense and the defense must be in proportion to the threat they face. Reservists hold down regular jobs and are paid a minimum amount the territorials maintain themselves in their home districts and live at home when not on active duty like they are now when they can be sent anywhere.

Like Israel they will need to maintain an economic and technological edge over their more numerous enemies and make quality substitute for numbers. Keeping Russia poor helps a lot too, at least until they have an attitude adjustment about imperialism and have a new government.

Ya learn until ya die and everybody dies Vlad, and guys like him never learn, neither does his army which is why they die in large numbers.

"We have a well-known saying in Russia: 'Live forever, learn forever.' And this applies not only to President Joe Biden, but also to the U.S. political elites as a whole," Putin said, according to the Kremlin-run news agency TASS.

So much for red lines.

Putin: ATACMS Missile Supplies to Ukraine a 'Mistake'
Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Wednesday that U.S. deliveries of long-range ATACMS missiles to Ukraine were a "mistake" that would create additional threats to Russian forces but would not significantly change the situation on the front.
"Firstly, this of course causes harm and creates an additional threat. Secondly, we will of course be able to repel these attacks. War is war," Putin told a press conference during a visit to China.

"But most importantly, it fundamentally lacks the capacity to change the situation on the line of contact at all. That is impossible, this we can say for sure. This is another mistake by the United States, for several reasons at once."

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed for the first time on Tuesday that Kyiv had started using long-range Army Tactical Missile System (ATACMS) projectiles provided by the U.S.

Kyiv had repeatedly asked the U.S. administration for ATACMS in order to strengthen its ability to attack and disrupt supply lines, air bases and rail networks in Russian-occupied territory that were beyond the reach of shorter-range missiles.

if Vladolf is complaining about the weapon, that means it works.
