I'm wondering why we haven't hooked them up w/surplus Cobra attack choppers, the USMC uses the Z (zulu) model, and any preceeding models would be a upgrade over soviet era models Ukraine now uses, they are using utility choppers w/rocket pods and m,guns added , the older Cobra's of AH-1W vintage are way more recent and are dedicated attack helis. The transition to these has to be more simple than the F-16 requirements, have no idea why this hasn't occurred or been mentioned in giving the Ukrainians more teeth on the battlefield, hell even surplus Blackhawks in numbers could add a air assault element to the Ukrainian's game,on the idea of the 101'st Assault div.,maybe in a Brigade size,a formidable capability.
Joe won't let Ukraine go down, even if he has to seize frozen Russian money and give it to Ukraine, ditto for the Europeans. One way of looking at it is in the past 2 years the Ukrainians with minimal help have destroyed most of the Russian military and its irreplaceable equipment, a legacy from the cold war. Nobody in Europe fears the big bad bear now that Ukraine has pulled his teeth and kicked his ass. Perhaps Joe wanted Vlad to think he had a chance (trouble with the GOP aside) and slowly sucked in his entire military to be attrited away for minimal costs. I think this war could be ended quickly by just destroying the rail bridges inside Russia on routes leading into Ukraine a dozen or so. The Russians are completely dependent on rail transport and can't operate in any force 50 km or so from their railheads. I'm sure some bright spark in the pentagon thought of this decades ago, America and NATO have ample means to do this. Cut the rail bridges and you cut the Russians in Ukraine off from supplies and reinforcement, the Russians would be trapped inside their own country a hundred miles from any border with few trucks for logistics. Rails can be repaired fast rail bridges take months to fix, even when the repair crews are not being attacked by missiles and drones.

i've been wondering that myself.....course atm UA needs more air defence....according to some numbers russia has fired more that 300 long range missles at UA and over 200 drones, they are basically using up all the long range hits atm cause of the winter. On the flip side of it, Russia also can't keep up with the bodies they need to hold certain area along the front, especially with Russia sending wave after wave of new recruits trying to take land. While it's also being bitter cold there Russia troops are feeling it with no way to heat themselves, if they do, they are setting themselves up to be hit. This winter should be interesting on both sides of the ball.
Man, it's gotta suck being a reg. Russian conscripted from a small village way from Moscow, and dumped into a cold ass trench, poorly equipped, barely trained, and w/this new virus from rat piss sickening guys, being told to kill your "NAZI" slavic cousins for the "Motherland" for a mafia don w/no regard for casualties. Going back to the Czars KIA numbers have NEVER deterred the Russians and most of these soldiers are just meat for the grinder.Russia has way more #'s than Ukraine and the strategy is to bleed Ukraine dry,"meet the new boss, same as the old boss".

Ukraine has sabotage teams doing exactly what you say on the rails, just exploded a train under some tunnel that may take months to repair(the name and area escape me),in addition there a pro -Ukrainian Russian partisans described as anti-war anarchists also hitting rail infrastructure.

Russia may have the #'s, but those number are dwendling, during the first mass conscription over 300k of young men left Russia, cause they didn't believe in this war.....young men who get summons are also leaving. Disidents inside russia are actually getting more and more active. Don't get me wrong i do feel for the conscripts that have been put into this meat grinder and most don't deserve to be in UA. I've come across vids of conscripts not having anything at all, most i would hope to surrender, others....well. In reality this war shouldn't have happened at all.

Also keep in mind Russia is also calling the kettle black. The United Russian party in itself is the reamergence of the old nazi party right now. From the flag itself, it doesn't say motherland anymore.....it actually says "Fatherland", now where in history have you heard that. Listening to the propaganda they spew, Russia backing the Repug party, backing the orange dumb dumb, celebrating Tucker etc etc......

The Ukrainians taught the Russians a bitter lesson about counter battery radars after they changed tactics in their southern breakthrough attempt. When western counterbattery radars were coupled with highly accurate 155mm artillery that was well maintained and who had trained crews helped by drones and their own digital fire control system, it had devastating results on Russian artillery. The western guns were more accurate at range and require fewer rounds to destroy a target and could scoot and shoot faster, they made it suicide for Russian gun crews to fire in their AO. They took away the traditional Russian artillery advantage, even if they had the ammo left after wasting it on cities and civilians earlier in the war.

Counter battery radars are a prime target for both sides but with a convergence of things like the artillery system used with it, the fire control system, GPS and drones it made a deadly combo that made the Russians suffer. For now, both sides appear to be using suicide drones to substitute for artillery rounds and the electronic war is on with both sides now using dirt cheap LoRa transceivers.

It's always been that way for the common Russian soldier. Stalin didn't invent the "wave attack" that was an Imperial Army tactic in WW1 and probably before then. Putin just dusted it off for use more than a hundred years later. Russia has always treated the population outside of the Moscow-St Petersburg region as nameless slaves whose lives are spent by their masters. Knowing this is what drives Ukrainians to such desperate measures.

Which shows maybe the advice in the last quote in this post isn't something to live by.

Reminds me of a post which is sad to see already almost 2 years old:
One of the five most common Russian surnames is Smirnov. Which is based on the word smirenie, which roughly means submission/humility. Suffering by submitting to an authority is being a good Russian.

“Russian history, religion, folklore, and literature are rife with suffering. The plight of Anna Karenina, the submissiveness of serfs in the 16th and 17th centuries, ancient religious tracts emphasizing humility as the mother of virtues, the trauma of the Bolshevik revolution, the current economic upheavals wracking the country-- these are only a few of the symptoms of what The Slave Soul of Russia identifies as a veritable cult of suffering that has been centuries in the making.
Bringing to light dozens of examples of self-defeating activities and behaviors that have become an integral component of the Russian psyche, Rancour-Laferriere convincingly illustrates how masochism has become a fact of everyday life in Russia.”

The Slave Soul of Russia: Moral Masochism and the Cult of Suffering
It's a well documented historical fact Russians are masochists. So maybe the following does make some kind of sense after all

Man if people just treated people the way they would like to be treated.
No safeword though.

With the demise of the Soviet Union and much of imperial Russia with it, coupled with their demographic issues and chronic alcoholism, has changed the dynamics of human wave attacks against high tech armed and determined Ukrainians. A million of their young best and brightest walking out of the place didn't help either. The value of human life goes up with its scarcity and the Russians no longer have their traditional abundance of warm bodies. Voting and having your vote count is better than the alternative and the Russians are providing a splendid example of the consequences of losing your vote and voice in your future, so did Hitler.
