Skunk seeds just germinated from the mid 1980's - 35 years old!!!

Lol def not a cop. Just a 40 year old guy trying to preserve old strains. I befriended an old man at the last fas station I worked at and he had been growing a pheno of diesel that has a very different smell and taste for like 20 years. I have some seeds of that and I crossed that with a white rhino male that I popped from another customer of mine that was growing his rhino for about 8 years. And I also have some seeds that a friends dad gave me that he got when he went to cali some years back and told me it was ghost og and said it was amazing and for him to say it was amazing, I trust bc some of the best weed I ever smoked, he grew. I'm interested in old strains bc I swear to god I used to get way more stoned than all of these inbred lines we have today.

I told an old timer last year that I was gonna be growing out Skunk in my house, he raised his eyebrows and said you sure you want that in your house? Lol... (I already knew that the Skunk I had was not the 70's Ass Skunk) Just thought it was funny he responded like that. He doesn't grow or anything, just enjoys the herb since he's been born it seems like.

Its not so much cos inbreeding most weed today is a multi polhybrid mess bred with looks taste and smell in mind more so than effects theres still good weed around you know where to look bud

Yeah u say it to anyone of a certain age they gonna think you crazy they only know the old one not so much the sweet stuff

That 70’s skunk was the bomb! I lived in Humboldt in the 70’s, and around October you could drive down a road and it smelled like roadkill skunk for miles, but no dead skunks!!! Unfortunately, that strain is pretty much gone. I miss it.

A while back I got two packs/lots of random seeds from the 70s and 80s from another forum user.

The arrangement is that I grow them and if there's anything worth keeping I'm going to seed it/them then share the seeds out to others in the community.

I've got everything I need so it won't be to long before I try to sprout them...fingers crossed!

Hey Conor, thanks mate I got told they were collected from good bits of weed through the 70/80s so I really don't know what to expect if they do sprout?

I've been reading up on starting old seeds to try and give them the best chance, apparently sea weed extract works well?

I've got some nitrozyme H202 to give it try.

I was going to ask you about selfing my exo, it's said it won't reverse so I've taken a clone to hopefully stress it into yielding pollen, I'm not really sure what's the best way to go about it?

@Tolerance Break hey bud, if I can get them to sprout yes I'll keep a diary on them.
