I'm in north Los Angeles on the other side of the mountains that form the LA Basin. The phone goes off making a horrible caterwauling and this is what I read. I walk outside and look around and zero smoke, all air traffic from our firebase still heading to LA and it's just gorgeous up here.

So I wait a few minutes and nothing. So I pull out all the Vari Kennels and my bug out bag and as soon as I'd done that I got this:

Because I had nothing better to do then pack and unpack. The emergency management system down here is overloaded. What a horrible week it's been. I hope everyone impacted by this and getting these actual notices are ok.
Glad you guys are good where you’re at! What happened with that evacuation order error just made the national news.
Do you Have WatchDuty app on your phone. That shit is up to date more than anything else and is a must have up here. Will be very useful for down there.

We're supposed to hit 70 today and the north wind died out for the moment. We need more rain but the ridge in the pacific won't let any storms in. I educated myself on the water sources for the LA basin, the California aqueduct only supplies 45% of the water used, the rest comes from the Owens valley and the Colorado river. With all the years I have been in this state I guess I am fortunate to have never been ordered to evacuate due to fire. I have no words to describe the devastation in So Cal.

I did the front brakes on the f350 yesterday. Calipers + rotors. Thank god it wasn’t the hubs! I just don’t have the energy for that shit right now.

Yeah I seriously doubt that will happen. It will be like what I experienced from the Camp Fire. Community comes together bigtime. The 1992 riots were a result of racial injustice. I’d say that’s a little different lol. Lots of love around here. #buttestrong #SoCalstrong
People have been looting in Topanga. I got report of at least two break-ins. One involves a person at home, who hid when 5 men broke in an ransacked the house

Some fucked up shit man. Rotten motherfuckers!
Not sure if you remember Alphaphase that used to post on here but he lived up in Magalia, my brother lost his home up in Magalia, but AP’s house didn’t burn but had some looting going on. Unfortunately it happened quite a bit while none of us were allowed to go back to our properties for a month.

This HIX guy is riding his Surron around LA in the Eaton fire zone. It is a unique look at the devastation in the area, it really does look like a war zone.

Yeah, my 14y/o sat down in my studio yesterday and announced, "Dad, I'm glad we're not in California, our hurricanes suck but this fire is insane." She's been watching the information on Tik-Tok and Instagram and her other Gen-Z matrix jack-ins. One of the vids she showed me was like that guy, except possibly a younger kid (maybe 19 at most and I would guess closer to 15-17) riding around on an e-bike getting similar kind of footage.

Scary shit. Hopefully everyone gets out, things can be replaced.

That is done. My silverado is like a new truck. Wish i knew of a cam that would still be smog legal but said nah. Stuck with the stock cam. Upgraded to ls7 lifters though.
My truck has no 4 wheel drive right now, the linkage is held on by two plastic grommets and they rotted and it fell off. I have to take it to a shop to get it replaced, I can't climb up under it at the moment.

The donor 2500hd has the 4:10 gears front and back that I want. My truck has 3:73’s and although it still works with the 35” tires, i’ve always wanted to change gears to 4:10 which is perfect. So that’s next to do. But swapping out the front gear box in my lifted silverado is not easy to do at home(because of the lift). Might let a shop do it. I’ll just take out the front driveshaft when i drive it to the shop after swapping rearends.

i’ve wanted to run 4:10 gears for 20yrs now. Lol

The deed is done. I have signed up for a new internet service. I was supposed to be getting unlimited data at up to 2000 mps. Not even close. I had heard the horror stories concerning Comcast, should have listened.
All the rest of the services that have recently raised their rates, you're next. You tube TV, Tmobile, Waste management, xfinity all on report! We're shopping and I promise I have just as much customer loyalty as you have, and that would be zero.

I’ll sometimes get north of 300mbps out of starlink. Starlink is the best you can get when you live way out in the sticks like I do now. This is right now

Xfinity tries to raise my internet rate each and every year, but I've done this for the last decade at least. I simply call to cancel, so they transfer me to a special cancellation department that you cannot get to directly. They ask why I'm canceling, and I just say that I am not working, and cannot afford their new rate. They then ask if I would like to keep the service at the old rate. Why, yes I would. Thank you. My internet bill is still $30 per month. My tactic may just work for you ;)

I'm done with them. What pissed me off beyond reconciliation was the 30 dollars extra a month they charge for unlimited data. All well and good except the service is so slow I am quite limited to how much data I can receive. That and it being damn near impossible to actually talk to a human about their shitty service.

I remember that dude, he was super cool. He got me into effective aero cloning by using pool shock. There's a special place in hell for people that steal from those already fighting for their lives and property.

I hear you. I am capped and a terabyte or two per month, but my usage doesn't even come close to that amount. I only get about 100 mps, but that's fine with me. I pirate all of my entertainment, surf, and use my google voip for business. I could see that my little plan wouldn't work for someone who needs more. Good luck on your ISP search...

I grew up in the streets of Long Beach. I hung out with shady people who had direct ties to mafias and cartels. There is always hungry people waiting for moments like this. Its the reason I said earlier, im a little worried about the aftermath. There will be a lot of hungry, angry, desperate people. If shit hits the fan, I know my brother will be good, since he owns and knows how to handle a pistol. Im mostly worried about my parents and sisters.

I honestly dont miss SoCal, Not one bit. Life is good out here in the PNW. Crime is damn near none existent where I live.
