Thanks for this post and all of the info sharing.
Im a few days into my first run and my dehumidifier keeps freezing up. Anyone else have this issue? TIA
What are your settings for your controller? Sounds like your trying to drop rh too fast.

So I'm running a little different equipment. I have a Kerilyn 32 bottle thermoelectric cooler, which I 100% do not recommend, and a AC Infinity controller 67. Same dehumidifier as everyone else. Im on day 3, started at 75% rh and dropped 1% per day. Cooler is at 62* and doesnt seem to dip any colder unless adjusted. Ive had to de-ice my dehumidifier at least 2x a day. Maybe the cooler itself is too big for the dehumid? Maybe need to run 2 or a bigger one? https://a.co/d/dVoWt75

It possible another dehumidifier would help, but first I would try setting the target rh to 77% and drop only .5 per day for the first few days and see if that helps. I am not real familiar with the ac infinity controller but when I start with bud straight from harvest I will start with a rh close to what the cooler settles on and slowly drop the first few days. I think the controller your using has a cycle mode as well, I have seen some people set it for perhaps an 50 minutes on, 10 minutes off, and the 10 min off will keep it from freezing or allow to defrost.

It’s just ok. The thermostat is wrong, meaning I have to set on 58 to get 62. It took me a bit to get that sorted and after reading the reviews again, that’s the biggest complaint about the unit. It is a bit larger that the koolitron and maybe I’ll need a bigger dehumidifier.

What's its lowest temp you've been able to achieve ?

It will drop to 56ish degrees but she working hard and goes into defrost mode often.
Ah right that's 13.3c, mine goes to 12c no problem and if I keep it in a cold spot it can go down to 9. I'm at the point now where I need either 4 coolers like we build here or I just bite the bullet and get a freeze dryer

@Hook Daddy honestly I'm at that point now it's just becoming the next logical step, harvest right are even more expensive in the uk than stateside, I'm trying portable air con for my drying tent next to see if I can hit a happy medium, there's one major problem with these wine coolers... they work too good. Once you do it this way traditional drying methods just won't cut it anymore. And I can't get 28 bottle thermoelectric wine coolers anymore, it's like everyone reading your thread bought them all haha!

I hear you, I’m on the fence about a freeze drier or at least 1 more cooler, but will most likely end up with both.

If they made a thermoelectric walk in fridge I'd probably stick with it lol. I'm tryna get a buddy to go halves on a harvest right, it seems the results of everyone using a freeze dryer are exactly what everyone in this thread is striving for. Plus it takes up minimal space, and you can dry 100+ ozs in a week, no wonder they're so expensive, when you gonna figure out how do diy one? :hump::hump::hump:

I’ve looked into building a diy freeze drier, but honestly as expensive as they are building a single unit would probably cost almost as much, especially when you consider time and just trial and error.

I have this fridge and the dehumidifier HD has and it's perfect. You likely need to adjust settings.

Same here on the fridge but different humidifier. So far so good.

I did a bud wash and straight into the fridge after blowing the excess water off the buds with an electric air duster. The initial humidity first settled around 85-90% What worked for me was setting the trigger point for the controller 2-4% higher than the lowest my dehumidifier could drop the rh inside. So if my dehumidifier could only drop the rh to 85, i would set the trigger in the controller to 87-90 and set a buffer setting of 2-4%(really depends on how fast the dehum can drop the rh, if it can drop the rh relatively easily to the buffer setting, then it is time to lower the trigger point). Your dehumidifier should be working hard but not too hard. Since I started off with higher humidity than most, it was more important for me to keep the temps low initially, which tbh took some trial and error and watching that shit like a hawk. If you reach 68-70F and you havent hit your buffer setting point, either decrease the buffer range or raise the trigger point. Doing this method has kept the dehum from freezing. Biggest issue I had was my ac infinity sensor probe randomly stopped working over night and my rh spiked to 96 but the fridge with temps has been fine besides it being a few degrees off. Cheers bud and good luck:blsmoke:

32 bottle model running pretty good! Thermostat isn't correct off by a couple degrees but thats fine, I think I'm using a bigger maybe but deff a different model dehu than most Dehu just had this one sitting around so I stripped and used it, also some tint film laying around so I tented the front.

Did you have to cut the bottom shelf for that dehumidifier or did it fit without any mods?
