I suggest using LEDS and theres no need for light rails, as they use way less electric. As for dirt get a good mix of worm castings, sand, and peril; you should have enough for a nice setup with LEDS. The LEDS cost more then HPS but , way less heat and power usage will more then pay for itself in the long run. make sure to read the 101 already asked questions in the newbie section.

Only use LED's for supplemental lighting. They do not have enough power to produce the buds you can get with the HPS lights. They also cause stretching.

2 600w HPS's on light movers is perfect.

How many plants do you want to have growing at a time? Did you want plants vegging while other plants are in flower?

LED's suck. Light rails are a great idea, so are the 600watt hps. Sounds like you already have it planned out. Paint the walls flat white, get yourself an inline fan and a carbon filter, and then all you need is a quality line of organic nutrients to feed your ladies. I recommend Roots organic soil, its a coif based soil with a good mix of organic amendments. You could try a pseudo vertical grow and put the plants that line the walls on a shelf about a foot to two feet off the floor. This allows you to use more light to your advantage. There's my two cents.

to add to TheDankness's reply..

Alot of people will reccomend using FoxFarm soils, but I say try and stay away from it. I havent had any good results and my friend who is a professional grower has had ove 30 seedlings burn from their OceanForest soil.

I hear good things about ProMix

im not sure how many you can fit. Figure out what size pots you want to use, then get the dimensions of those and do the math. SoG would be sweet for that setup and would gie you max yield. You definitely want air-cooled hoods for the 600's those things get HOTT!

i gotta run, but ill check back in to answer any more questions. Goodluck!

procyon leds do not suck, you can get amazing led lights that will blow away hps or at least be equal. they cost around a grand but worth if you have the money. you will make it back in a year in power costs alone.

just don't buy led panels.

you wont need an inline fan either which will save on energy, and you wont have to worry about heat stress. no extra ballasts, smaller electrical footprint, and much more stealth

you could get too procyon 100's for under 1200 and they would be plenty for your garden.

leds give some impressive resin production too.

since you have the money to spend now i would do it so you dont have to later. dont listen to these kids they bought their led panels off of ebay from china or somthing.

those LEDs are $1600 (on sale) and it says it "rivals 1000w MH"

you can get 1000w magnetic ballasts, 2 bulbs, and air cooled hood from HTG for $350

if you are doing a room 8' x 20' it would be ideal to use 1KW bulbs...anything less would be sorta wasteful.... (wasting potential)

basically - get as many lights as you can afford...

I doubt that the soil burned his seedlings. I have grown alot in FF ocean forrest and have GREAT results. Its prolly one of the easiest way's to start growing if you'r new. Comes with a little chart on when to feed what.

The pic shows you 4 plants 19 days in flower under 400hps in FF ocean forrest with FF nutes.

I was going with two 600 watts because my electric bill has only been around 60 dollars a month and people told me if my bill spikes up from too many watts being used i would be red flagged. is that true? if its not true ill have this place lit up brighter than vegas! lol

He is fully licensed and has gone through many grows with FFOF but lately he hasnt had any luck with their products. Neither have I.

He actually bought Miracle Grow seed-starter soil and it is awesome. He planted the seeds 3 days ago and they are already about 2 inches tall and very healthy.

Lightwarrior's run-off is around 7.5. Way too acidic, i think ill go with Miracle grow for my next seedlings.

It's up to you about the room. You can use it as one room. But once your done flowering you have to start all over. If you split the room you can constantly have revolving bud. Every two months, you can have another harvest. Just wont be as big as one room grow. But the reloading is nice. You save time on your total grow when you can start from a clone instead of a seed. Just my two cents.

don't you mean alkaline?
if you have your ph any higher than 7.5 your plants are going to have a lot of problems getting magnesium or iron, you need your runoff to be at least at 6.5 to get even a little to absorb into the plants

for soil you should be looking for more acidic than 7.5, you should be looking for 6.2-7.0

but ya, i prefer to mix my ffof and happy frog with pearlite as opposed to light warrior i hate that shit

we tested the Light Warriors run off today with a fresh handful outta the bag. We used water with a pH of 6.5 and the run off was around 7.5-8.0. I do hear good things about HappyFrog though. The only one i havent used.

But yeah, the Miracle-Grow Seedling Starter is awesome, very light and airy. Check it out sometime.
