i think i know who did this project,
was looking into similar concept for utilizing my pool at one point
very clean execution, and... see LB's comment
there are many application for underground water storage
your top point will need to be at least 3 feet under ground
to maintain temperatures during any harsh whether conditions

Any depth underground will work - a 55 gallon trash can buried with a foot left above ground would work great on the cheap. Add anti-freeze to the water if you are worried about freezing!

No doubt - what is that tubing - I am off to get some right now! I am going to rig my chiller to my hydrogen proper like that guy! Red insulated tubing for the outlet hot water and blue for the cool input - it will be great. I think I know what that tubing is - they have the red version at OSH... anybody know the exact name?
Lots of good ideas in that thread - even though it is closed... That Boz dude is the man when it comes to DIY - that CO2 setup is hardcore, no?

looks like temp specific hoses from lowes or hd...
nothing too unusual...looks fancy but only because its clean and neatly done.
but i think its actually just some pvc, some tee's and barbed connectors

antifreeze wouldnt fuck with the pump and or the compartment in the icebox? or the hydrogen co2 gen?
what are your ideas on being able to use one chiller for a res chiller for nutes and still use it for the icebox and hydrogen co2 maybe?
would the nute soup corrode the icebox?
does your hydrogen co2 gen require certain type of water? i know you can use RO waste water, but hell waste water would surely be better than tap water, if only by a little bit

and btw, yea that would be nice circulation, but i want to make sure it wont corrode the icebox ...that would kill two birds with one stone... (1 chiller for res and icebox instead of separate res chiller for each)

not sure why you need to chill the res water
Either or both of these will encourage corrosion in copper plumbing.
Acidic water and ungrounded pipes can favor corrosion
you will need to use highly treated water, and UV treatment
I'd suggest to oxyblast it, but you cant mix the oxyblast with nutes water

Now - many users of the Hydrogen have successfully run anti-freeze through the Hydrogen... no issues so far! Remember - anti-freeze also keeps things cooler than water too - so many are running it in their indoor Hydrogen res to help fight heat - without any concern for freezing!
The makers of the Hydrogen - frequently run used nute soup through their Hydrogen without ill effect... true, the salts in the nutes will eventually wear out the copper, but if you use regular water to 'flush' it between nute water cooling it seems to be OK. For me - rigging the plumbing for drain to waste is not possible. I just use water in mine...
Not sure sharing a chiller is going to work - I think the temp diff for the two items will be too great... Understand, the Hydrogen is a water heater... In a 20 gallon res, each gassing will raise the water temp about 5 - 7 degrees. Your nutes will likely need a much smaller adjusment... as there is only 1 temp monitor on a chiller, I don't see how you could keep both within the proper temp range (I think your niute water may still be too hot!). Hmmm....
Yo LB - I think you may be right about that just being PVC tubing. I did see that in red and blue, but I did not think it was the same stuff... seems like PVC would condensate if water and room temps were greatly different. I started thinking it may be an automotive tubing of some sort - perhaps radiator hosing or something?
Oh well - I am still on the hunt for it!
