I just harvested my Crystal grow today and there was a lot of mold.
I started from seeds at Christmas, using a tent, 400W Lumatek, negative pressure and an oscillating fan in northern CA. I put the lights on at night to help mitigate the heat problem.
I think the mold started in my previous grow and my tent is contaminated. When I water the plants in the tent, there is water dripping out of the bottom raising the humidity. If anyone thinks that the case, then how do you remove the excess water short of getting an AC unit to pump in cooler/drier air?
Since this is only my 2nd grow, I did not recognised the signs of mold. During flowering, some of the smaller fan leaves started drying out and shriveling. Not until harvesting did I learned that the base of these nodes had significant mold. I thought the leaf shriveling was just normal. Also 400W may not produce enough light to penetrate the canopy. I topped them, but did not do LST. I don't want to go higher to 600W because then heat will start becoming an issue. In the Bay Area, day time temps do not get too bad in the garage which is completely shaded. The upstairs room get into the 90's before cooling down at night.
What a disappointment to learn this at the end of the process. Learn from my mistake - be on the lookout for mold!
