Well IMO the world will not explode, or there will be a nuclear war. What I think will happen is the day December 21st 2012, some thing will cause a chain of events, such as what happened in ww1 and ww2 is a chain reaction from ww1.
We may take too much for granted. 90-95% of the population has lost there natural instinct to survive we depend too much on technology. Could something happen that will drop our species to a complete minimum, survival of the fittest perhaps. In fact our minds are so well developed, with so many imaginative tools. That if you were to turn the knob that controls the path of humanity. Great and even evil things can happen. Perhaps this is the 1st age, from beginning of humans to technological advances. Then once all technology disappears aka micro-age. We will be using our intelligence in a whole new meaning. Perhaps with all that we have created in our minds, due to the imagination of every ones mind becoming more intelligent in the first age. We will be able to come up with what does not exist in our current age. Maybe as such there will be a big war and lots of people perish. Those few gather in communities, and perhaps someone wants to be a wizard and over hundreds of years or even thousands of years there will be a wizard like we see on tv shows or movies.
