4. The Constitution, 4th Amendment
3. Only criminals would have guns if they were outlawed
2. Throughout history, tyrants outlaw weapons, typewriters, printing presses, and free assembly. Then, they can proceed with their oppresive plans.

Reason #1
The government and liberals hate gun ownership and I love fucking the system that chokes me!
Maybe I should rephrase my question...

What benefits come from gun ownership?

4. The 4th amendment means nothing to me... regarding WHY GUNS should be legal...

Let's not forget, laws are fictional codes made up for one reason or another.. so whati s the reason that guns should be legal?

3. Of course only criminals would have guns if they were outlawed.. it would be illegal and anybody who had one would be breaking the law... its like saying that the sun rays only touch people who are exposed to the sun.. yes...

THIS is no reason to make them legal... it is a TRICK of words...

2. hmmm.... what does this have to do with making guns iegal or illegal.... did you know that people who drive cars kill people.. drivers have always killed people ... throughout history, people who drive cars have killed people...

this is no reason that cars should be legal or illegal.. is it?

1. the government? WHAT is the government? YOU are the government... do you hate guns? The government is a fictional character.. like snuff-a-lufagus... do you belive he hates you... democrats? do they really hate guns?

How about, GUNS should be legal so that I can protect my liquor store form terrorists

That sounds like a reason...

Or, How about... Guns should be illegal so that I can protect my ignorance
... ya see, I am really scared that somebody is gonna take my hummer 2 in the middle of the night.. and I want to bveable to shoot them and protect what is rightfully mine.

Or how about...

I hate (fill in an ethnicity) and would love to have an excuse to blast one of dem biotchs.

or

My daddy always had guns and I just can't stand the thought of brushing my teeth or change in the ways I's lives my life.

mockingbird answered your question perfectly and you didn't hear it. is it deliberate?

the right to own guns was put in the constitution for a VERY good reason. it is the last deterant to try to keep the ruling elite in this country from removing the citizen's rights. gun right are for our protection from our own government, should they turn on the people with oppressive law, or attempt to abolish the constitution.

to even suggest the question: "what benifits come from gun ownership?" shows an ignorance of what dangers the U.S. faces, ever more so each day.

besides our government, if guns were removed from the hands of citizens they will NEVER be removed from the black market, criminal element. we do not live in the dream world where everyone meditates toward enlightenment each day and pursues peace. why put the common man at such a disadvantage?

Guns have more of the ability to put the common man at a disadvantage than you might imagine. Many gun owners lack the balls to actually pull the trigger, leaving the armed criminal more of a reason to kill them. If you have a tasty cheese sandwitch that I want badly enough to steal it, I will take the cheese sandwitch wether or not you are armed. Seeing as I would already be commiting a violent act like robbery, if you were armed I would be prepared to kill you to take that cheese sandwitch. Being the violent rober I am in this example, I would enter your house or store knowing that if you come between me and the sandwitch its light out for you.

Why should guns be legal?
A thoughtful and thought-provoking question. I will try to answer the question as best I can.

Firearms are a fact of life in this world. Guns should be legal for self-defense.

The 2nd Amendment speaks directly to the right. I won't argue the semantics of the amendment. Rather what the 2nd Amendment represents abstractly: freedom. Rights are endowed to us by the creator, man (government) cannot suppress those rights without defying the will of the creator.

I find it funny (some) liberals cringe at the mere mention of guns when gun ownership is a very liberal concept. I mean liberal as in French Revolution liberal. Government gets too oppressive? You have the duty to overthrow that government. That's why little people need firearms.

An example, a criminal is doing recon for tonight's home invasion. He is watching two houses. Both are similar in size, owner's affluence, etc. There is one distinct difference. While hidden, the criminal watches as one homeowner brings a gun case into his home. Which house will the criminal target?

The gun enthusiasts I've known would not hesitate to shoot a predator invading their home and presenting a threat to them or their loved ones.

CC- I am not sure you are seeing where I stand.. some people would call me a realist... let me explain what that is by giving you this example..

THE CONSTITUTION, the Deceleration of Independence and the Bill of RIGHTS

are not worth the paper they are printed on... they are MADE up.. fictional.. just like dragons and your parents marriage... that shit AINT real...

GUNS are real.... my dick is real, butterflies are real...

ya feel me? so when somebody says uses fiction as a "REASON" it is not adequate for me.. this is not to dog MOCKINGBIRD... i dig that cat and his answer may be suitable for some but not for me...

Then I plead ignorance.. cause I feel this incredible feeling from the second I wake up to the second i go to bed... I feel love when I stub my toe, I feel llove when somebody flips me off.. I feel love when I see the persimmons ripening on my trees... My ignorance is something I am willing and eager to overcome.. please enlighten me

EVERYBODY is a common man... there is NOTHING here except you...

You can deny this, you can say I don't live in reality... BUT i can tell you exactly how to experience this.. without pointing at a book... or any fictional doctrine... A gun will never take yo to this place... but you can hold a gun in your hand as you have this experience..

THINK ABOUT ROOSTERS..... think about roosters.. think about roosters... how long will it take before you see a rooster... before you hear a rooster...

AND finally... I am by NO means tryig to take guns from anybody...

I think guns are fantastic and I have no problem with gun ownership.. none at all..

The fact that I can ask a question LIKE...
why should guns be legal

and it evoke or cause people to think I am against ownership is the BIGGEST SIGN POST towards POINTING AT those who are TRAPPED in there heads..

sleeping in a world of delusion..

I am not saying this to be mean..

I am saying this to GIVE A clue... as to how QUICKLY ones mind finds adversary..

How quickly the thoughts fill the moments of possible silence.. and bury the truth with noise and defensiveness and more CHATTER

how quickly ones mind has to CHOOSE a side..

there is a place where the mind is silent.. YOU dont have to choose a side..

You don't have to be stuck thinking with JUST words..

You don't have to be stuck THINKING... there are greater tools

and YOU can just say..

"FOOK man i don't know why guns should be legal"

and then YOU shall get the answer to any question you have.. and it will be a real answer.. something besides big bird, kermit and the tooth fairy..

The Bill of Rights does not exist merely on the physical plane. It is a timeless concept most of us honor. Without the Bill of Rights government agents can do terrible things to you under the guise of law and order. Are these rights abused/ignored by the Right and the Left? Absolutely.

If homeowner 'A' had the cheese andwitch I wanted, they might live. If the gun owner 'B' had the cheese sandwhich I wanted then he will die. They might have more guns, so wife and kids are going to get it too. As a criminal, I might bring a combat shotgun with buckshot instead of a .40 handgun and take the gunowner and his family out next to his truck. Guns will not stop the cheese sandwitch bandit! I arrive in body armor to guarentee my swiss on wheat reward!

Me thinks you are way overkill on the bandits side. Yeah mean nasty motherfuckers would have no problem with killing me. The odds of an armed bean bandit crashing through your front door are pretty slim, unless you have dealings with the criminal types, drugs, guns, etc. The thought of armed homeowners deters many criminals from invading someones home. Your odds are better that the cops will make a wrong address entry into your home and if you wave a gun at them you are fucked, because even though you are within your rights to shoot a plainclothes cop making an unanounced crash entry into your home if you don't realize it was a cop, the rest of the cops will shoot you down like a dog and get away with it, then if there is no dope, they will produce some for their defense, whoops found it right on your coffee table, an OZ of crack. Kinda makes you wonder, not if this happens, but how many times it happens. Dead crack dealers tell no tales.

My son-in-law says that Utah has gun license reciprocity with about 32 states. You can be a resident of those other states and qualify for a Utah gun license while living in your home state. The Utah fee is pretty low, like $50-100. Finally, and best of all, your Utah concealed carry permit is renewed on a three year cycle not a one year cycle (which is most common).
Nv.=5 years, cooool huh?I just renewed mine a couple a months back, takes about 2 Hrs. at the cop shop, but you have to go and qualify with your weapons and that costs about 100.00. I can live with that every 5 years. I have 3 weapons I can carry, a .45, a .380, and my 9MM glock, the .380 is the lightest and most concealable. The law states that a concealed weapon must remain concealed at all times, unless it is in use. If someone reports you having a weapon, IE they saw it, it's called brandishing, and you will lose you liscence and get a stiff fine.

GK ... violence/guns is not the way ... it never has been ... it never will be ...
... I know many here love to create a scenario or refer to history of how violence saved the day and keeps the peace ... and we that truly believe in peace are living in a fantasy ... however we all know Ghandi and MLK prove that theory wrong ... those are the ones who can NEVER understand we will not find peace through war or violence ... and because of that consciousness
(which creates form) it becomes the reality.

Guns are legal (other than the reason of responsible hunting and hobby) because of fear ... nothing more.

Homeowner A loses his cheese sandwich, if he's lucky. The predator would not make it to the cheese sandwich in the house of Homeowner B. He would be assuming room temperature long before he made it to the cheese sandwich.

Under your scenario the cops and the bad guys have guns. What's to get?

Ghandi and M.L.K. were assasinated. The bad guys will always have firepower.

Thats assuming that homeowner B kept his weapon close, loaded and chambered. A .45 has a cocked and locked position which is the position to use when carrying, but in the house, I keep it loaded but unchambered. That way if it ever did fall into my granddaughters hands, (it wont), she couldn't chamber a round anyway as it takes a fair amount of strength to do so. Also on my .45 there is a child safety feature where you have to have a hand large enough to squeeze a lever on the grip to allow it to fire, not that it will ever be tested, but it is a deterrant for child usage.

medicineman,
What I love about you, is that you are always armed and dangerous. A challenge. And I love NV. I have thought about moving there, but have roots here.

Challenging YOU, with both barrels is reasonable. So I do that. The next time we collide, take it as a compliment.

Well, if you can't get to your weapon in time and the perp has you in his sights, it's goodbye Charlie. Duh!
You are assuming the perp is in a position to prevent you from reaching your weapon. I believe anyone who keeps a gun nearby as they sleep, would also take precautions so a perp could not enter his home without detection.

Why do you cap your response with an insult? Very passive-aggressive.

Mainly because I thought the question had no merit. It is only common sense that if you can't get to your weapon, you may as well have no weapon. What would you do, tell the perp Hey I've got a gun, someplace?~LOL~
