Raspberry Cough and Afgan Kush grow.

I Germ'd 5 regular seeds of the Raspberry Cough and 3 fem seeds of the Afgan Kush recently and figured I'd start a thread to document it a bit. Not really a journal but...

The seeds weren't all germ'd at the same time so they're all different heights but they were within about a week to a week and a half of each other.

I've also got some kind of weak sauce looking plants in flower at the moment that were survivors of a serious heat/bug infestation issue I had while out of town a while back. Considering what they've gone through, I'll be happy with whatever I get from them.

Here's some current pics:
The plant is the foreground in the first pic is Sour Grapes (5wks flower), second pic is a Super Lemon Haze (7wks flower) and in the last pic you can see another Super Lemon Haze in the background (5wks flower).
The other two show my seedlings in 1gal pots, in FFOF soil, under my two 2' 4 tube T5 fixtures. They're sitting inside of my first hydro setup that I still plan to use for vegging.

The plan for the seedlings is to veg them for a few weeks, sex a cutting from each, toss the males and keep the best of the female plants for mothers. A buddy wants the others and I want to use clones anyway so it should work out fine. I'll take as many cuttings as I can (12-16 total hopefully) from the moms and flower the eight best/strongest looking clones out of the bunch after a few weeks veg time. The rest will be given away to friends.

I don't really like growing in soil anymore so the clones will be vegged and flowered in hydro. The DIY tray in the pics in the previous post is what I'll use for veg and there's a 24"X44" inside dimension tray in the flower room that the other plants are sitting in currently.

All veg will be under the T5 fixtures in the pics and supplemented by CFLs as needed.

Flower will be under a 600W HPS and using FF nutes.

Yeah I wish I could get Sour Grapes seeds too. The one I have was a clone I took from a clone I bought at a dispensary. This one's mother gave me 2 1/2oz dry under a 400W HPS. Tastes awesome too...

It tastes really nice, pretty much like it claims, kind of like grapes. Smells really dank but kind of sour too.

I just ran out of it but wish I still had more so I'm looking forward to the little one in flower right now.

I got mine from a club here near my house. I know they still have the mothers which were grown from seed and I also know Sour Grapes is an Oaksterdam strain. Considering you are closer to Oakland than I, you may be able to find some clones of it.

The place I got mine from did a big run of Sour Grapes clones and then did some other strains. I asked them to email me when they have more Sour Grapes clones ready to go but haven't heard from them yet. I know they did some Master Kush, Jack Herer and OG Kush after the Sour Grapes too. They have some nice mother plants, probably a dozen or so of them, all different strains.

My seedlings seem to really like being in the FF soil as they're darkening up nicely. They were all showing signs of deficiency (yellowish) while in the seed starter mix in the cups. 2 of the Raspberry Cough plants are taking off too

How was that Afgan Kush and SLH you grew?
afghan kush was superb and slh is one of my top 5 considering i dont live in cali and dont have access to fire herbs all da time i would say its amazing btw i got a kaia kush journal going on just a couple of weeks till its done and im excited cause the father of the plant is a super silver haze and from my experience with the slh that stuff will be legendary in my book lol

Gotya...The Sour Grapes is def worth seeking out IMO. I even thought about swinging into the club where I got my original Sour Grapes clone today on my way home to see if they have any. Buuut then I decided it'll just throw a wrench in the works right now so I passed on by.

I gave my brother and a very good friend of mine who are both high tolerance, veteran smokers some to try and they both were impressed. My brother said it's stronger than the stuff he's been buying (he doesn't have a card) and asked to buy it from me @ $60for an 1/8! I told him I don't sell it and gave him the 1/8. Problem is now he calls all the time wanting me to sell him weed. I promised my wife I wouldn't sell him weed so I lie to him and tell him I don't grow enough to sell.

I think I'll try topping this time around and am trying to decide when to start topping. The three Raspberry Cough plants that were germinated first are considerably bigger than the others now and have four sets of leaves but they still seem too small to me for topping. I'm just getting some nice compact growth and close node spacing using the T5s, which I'm very happy about. I won't know for a while which of the RC are male and which are female but want to try to get multiple colas going. I have one plant in flower right now that never got topped or LST'd or FIM'd and it's all lanky looking and isn't going to give me anywhere near what the others have been turning out that I did do some sort of training/pruning on so I want to make sure these kids bush out pretty well.

I haven't done any training on plants that were grown from seed yet and am a little confused as to when I should start. I know I could start LST on the three bigger ones if I wanted to right now but am not sure about topping or FIM.

Opinions???

i topped mines at 3 weeks in but of course i did aeroponics by that time plants were huge so i say around 3-4 weeks at the most

you should wait till they are taller than in the pic to top. after the cut, they will V out and no growth from the cut will occur. that being said, if you top too early, itll be short plant.....

That's what I was thinking. When I FIM'd my other plants I waited until they were 8-10" tall and had some established side branches. That comes quick though with clones.

I think it's more important to go by how the plants look than how old they are though. Wouldn't you agree?
