Just to throw something out there. Would strain have and effect on what type of light to use. i try to grow some outdoor strain indoors(with hps 600w) and it didn't do to well then got some indoor seeds and put them out doors and they did fine. so would i need to get indoor strain for LED lights or would outdoor or even feminised work better.? OR am i just retarted and it doesn't matter???

i don't do clones just seed.

Because back in the day when looking for genetics i would see outdoor-indoor-fem-auto ect.

Genetics refer to where the plant comes from, they will grow on mars if the condition is right. In other words if i get a seed from an outdoor plant and grow it in hydro everything would work out fine. they just adapt to the new environment

The more indica the better IMHO...Shorter, tighter nodes, broader leaves, it will just fit the environment better and cause less unexpected issues. Sativa dom's get a touch too tall and side lighting comes into play (both with LED and HID). The light from LED's lose effectiveness over less distance than HID, (no matter what kind you use) so tall plants cause issues with their undergrowth. Learning some good LST techniques will not only solve that problem, but will most likely increase your potential yield as well.

yeah it was some crazy asain or tai. It was sativa dominent. Maybe i need to stay a way from sativas then

after i think about it the one that didn't do to good was sativa dominent. i think i just need to stay away from sativa.
Never had prob. with indica or hybrids. Just sativas.
never tried LST just alot of training.... Might try FIM.

I had to add a CFL just because I have 12 plants. Kessil's still cover a good portion of the room 5'x5'

This thread has sold me on the LEDs for sure! Nice grows everyone! I am so looking forward to having a couple bucks saved up for 'em.
I saw some post-style LED battery powered deals at my local garden shop. They are for supplementing houseplants and run about $25 a piece. I saw them a few months back before what I knew what I do now about LED wavelengths, wattage and so on. I intend to go check them out again but was wondering if anyone has experience with these? I love my HID for flowering but a couple of these battery-powered LEDs on sticks jammed into my soil might be a great solution for some lighting from under the canopy to make sure i'm getting well rounded developments.

IXOYE can you find them on he web ? I might be interested in some of those too, look into Kessil's H150 they are working great for me so far

Viagro suggested the Kessil too - that will be a purchase I make sooner or later without a doubt. I will stop in the garden center on Tuesday (think they're closed MLK day) and see what those LED stakes are called and then google 'em. I will let ya'll know what I find out.

I myself have done a bit of business with Sean at Gotham and can vouch for their customer service and credibility. Have I ever had a problem? Yes, but it was usually fixed within a week. They are a good company and back their products well. I have no affiliation with them I'm just a happy customer.

Yeah ill vouch for Gotham as well.... They shipped quickly, were nice enough to haggle with me on my purchase (i love to haggle for a good deal), and they were honestly the nicest eBay sellers ever. Plus the blackstar they sent is KILLER.

Here is some pics of one of my new custom made LED veg light 140 watts, it cost me £400 all in but i believe i will get good results. My main lights wont be posted for another few weeks but when its here ill post up pics of that too.

is there an official site for this blackstar lightin........ and is it good to have 1 or 2 low watt CFLs on the side for suppliment and penetration lighting to work with your LED

i am usin a china LED UFO 90w....... with red blue orange and yellow...... idk what the yellow is in there for cuz all u need is blue red orange..... i forget the ratio of it sumtn like 7 4 2 1 i think im not 100%

im lookin to upgrade in the future........ whats so good about blackstar vs lets say illuminator?

any suggestions on the new light..... should i get a pure red to help flowering or should i get just a tri spectra?
