Getting Equipment for a Grow Rooms and Suggestions

I was mixing the nutes using Dyna-Gro's Flood to Waste chart.
When I first started these seeds I was using the Recirculating chart, which is even stronger, but I started at 25 percent strength and had worked my way up to 80 percent when I noticed the Flood to Waste chart was 80 percent of the Recirculating chart, so I switched to the Flood to Waste chart.

I'm open to suggestions.......I'm soooo new to this, but very eager to learn.

Thanks and cheers,

Those charts are just suggestions for a wide range of strains/fruits/veggies/flowers etc. Right now you're feeding at 2.0 EC which is pretty high.

Are you flowering right now? Vegging? Using RO water? If you're not using RO, do you know the ppm of your tap water?

I mixed up this batch of nutes to start flowering. I was using a teaspoon(tsp)and 1/4tsp measuring cups and tried to error on the light side by not overflowing the cups.
No, I'm not using RO water.
Tap water pH7.9, ppm158

I mixed up (4) 3gal buckets, added Pro-Tekt, waited 30 min, added Mag-Pro, waited, added Grow to 2 buckets and Bloom to 2 buckets, waited, pH down to 5.8. The buckets ppm were 900, 950,750,770
I expected them to be higher according to the chart, but with me filling the measuring cups on the shy side.....( I need to get a better measuring cup)

Thanks again,

You don't need to wait after you mix nutes. Add protekt first, stir it in well, then add grow/bloom and then Magpro. You can even premix grow and bloom if you want, they're the same formula except for their different NPK values.

You're ppm conversion is on the .5 or NaCl scale so don't think that your ppms aren't very high.

I'd suggest you start flowering with 2mls of grow, 5 mls of bloom, 5 mls of protekt and 1ml of Magpro per gallon. Maybe at the end of flower, you'll have tweaked those values to 1/2 mls of grow, 6.5 mls bloom, 5 mls protekt and 1 ml of Magpro. You really don't need a lot of this stuff for excellent results.

Of all the things you can cut down on it'd be the Pro-tekt. This reason is two fold.

Firstly, it is 7.8% Silicate, 1% Potassium... The plant doesn't need quite that much silicon. 1-2ml per gallon of the Pro-Tekt is plenty of silica to have running through the media on a regular basis.

Secondly, I find that the product has incredible pH up capability. The 4ml of Pro-Tekt would require more pH down than 1-2ml will. This reduction of phosphoric acid and silica will have a dramatic effect on the overall EC.

Also, personally, I'd run more like 9ml total of Grow and Bloom. Be that 6/3, 5/4, or during flowering, 4/5, 3/6, and eventually 1/8.

You might be good so long as the plants can take it and you get plenty of run off to ensure absolutely no build up. Keep your eyes open. If you see something that appears to be Magnesium deficiency the solution isn't increasing the EC with more mag. Drop the EC (especially in the Potassium department) and foliar feed with some mag. This should slow the problem and resolve it quick enough to keep any burn damage from affecting the final yield.

Thanks for the help guys,

It's dark in the tent right now, lights are to come on at 10:00p.... I'll check for burn then.
I fed them once this morning, hopefully there is no burn yet.

Thanks again,
P.S. I hate to admit it but, last weeks' veg mixture had a ppm of 1040............oops :)

Put the Eiko 600hps in until the Digilux 600hps gets here. It seems that Greners is going to take the full 10 days before they ship it to me plus shipping time...aaaggghh!
My 2nd NextGen 400/600 ballast and reflector is in Illinois at some UPS depot since Tuesday because of weather...aaaggghh! Ok, I'm done bitchin'

ppm865 pH6.1 (adjusted to 5.8 )

TDS meter: HM Digital TDS EZ (calibrate with NaCl)
pH meter: Milwaukee pH600

The largest WW has a few yellow tips, but the Romaine Lettuce looks extremely nice

It's pretty clear you've never used Protekt before.
Also, personally, I'd run more like 9ml total of Grow and Bloom. Be that 6/3, 5/4, or during flowering, 4/5, 3/6, and eventually 1/8.
It's also clear you've never used their base nutes.

And I don't even know what you're talking about here.

 Ok, here is your chance to be an authority on the subject:

Firstly, it is 7.8% Silicate, 1% Potassium... The plant doesn't need quite that much silicon. 1-2ml per gallon of the Pro-Tekt is plenty of silica to have running through the media on a regular basis.

Back up this claim with a ppm figure. Please tell Mr Dan here how much of an effect two less mls per gallon of Protekt will have on his EC.

Also, personally, I'd run more like 9ml total of Grow and Bloom. Be that 6/3, 5/4, or during flowering, 4/5, 3/6, and eventually 1/8.
Again, here is your opportunity to show us that you've used these nutrients before. Post the resulting EC of the combinations of grow and bloom that you've listed above.

The results of my suggested feeding rates can be found in my newest Great White grow journal. Where is the link to your journal supporting your feeding rates?

Can you get a pretty good yield with 600 hps? I'm thinking of going with 600 hps.

I'm on my first grow and am still learning what they need and more important, what they don't need.
I've read a couple of grow journals, where their results with a 600 were very (very) good.

So, YES, is my answer! :)

ppm was 865 (1.73 EC) I added 3 gals of water and brought it down to 625ppm (1.25 EC)
added some pHdown to pH5.7
res temp 24 hrs period - 70*F lights out, to 81*F lights on at the end of the 12 hr cycle.
tent temp from 72*F to 83*F

After a couple of floods, the ppm went to 793........... new growth is lime green and also noticed a few more yellow tips............... decided to start fresh, drained my res, and mixed up a new batch of nutes.

new ppm635 EC1.27 pH5.8......... after a flood ppm679 EC1.36 pH5.9............... I'm thinking ( I shouldn't do that :) ) that the previous stronger nutes in the rockwool is mixing back with the new nutes?????

I decided to clean the res and change the nutes to a fresh batch. I found that it is not easy to do for a one-legged fat man (with 2 bad legs) in a tent. What a site...... LOL!

While doing so, I tried to pull one of the air stones loose from the air line, and the air stone broke........... Cheap Walmart brand. So now, I'm soaking another air stone as I type. :)

Anyway, everything is looking good. All the girls are budding except the G13 Blueberry Gum freebie. She was 3 weeks behind the other girls but, I put her in flower with the others and she has grown already as tall as 3 of 4 others. Her stock is thicker then any of the other girls but, no flowers yet.

The Lsd is a bushy lil' B....h
1 of the 3 White Widows is about a foot(+) taller then the other 2.

What kind of buzz or yield are you looking for?

I have these phantom pains in my legs........... so, something that can take my mind off of those type of pains(nerve) or something that will just knock me out :)

Before I started this hobby, I was getting cheap brick weed. That is all I can afford........ 1 oz. will last me 3.5 to 4 weeks
