XBOX360 or PS3?

Looking to purchase both of these, but I'm here to ask you good people which is best?

Not looking for people who own one, and that's the reason they chose it. ;)

I'm leaning towards the 360, the XBOX live is a great feature, the graphics are just about identical depending on the game, and the exclusive list of games for the 360 is more appealing to my taste.

So which one do you like best and why?

ps3 standard, if you go online you dont have to pay for it like xbox, graphics aint to much different to be fair and you get blueray for free

I prefer my PS3 over my Xbox360.

PSN is free, media streaming is no contest. I can access ALL my 4+ TB of media with my Blu-Ray remote, and stream HD MKV,MP4,Xvid, etc backup rips with full DTS or DD 5.1 right from my network.
As far as reliability....this is my 4th 360. Still on my 1st PS3 Slim.

BUT

360 has slightly better graphics IMO, and better online downloadable content, and bigger game selection.

The media streaming is what sold me on NOT purchasing a 5th 360....and giving the PS3 a chance. I still use and enjoy my 360 for certain games, and I have a large group of friends that I like to keep in touch with and rip it up with.
But after getting my PS3 tweaked into my network, it is a clear winner in my books.

Just my 2 cents.

for gaming the x box is up there with the range of titles out and value for money. but the proccessing power disk drive streaming abillities are all by far superior on the playstation aswell as free online gaming the ps will stream films music for free you just got too look for the sites.i find graphics better for the ps aswell picture is clearer not as pixulated as on xbox. but hell if your buying both what you worrying about get them and see what you think its peoples personal prefrences there giving here... :-)

I should clarify....my 360 still works....just has no DVD ROM drive. I can only play the games I have stored on the HDD. The constant failure of the ROM drives, and the PS3's media capabilities convinced me of trying Sony's console.

I still add downloadable content to my 360 when I find stuff I like. Just can't buy original games.

The PS3 is just the way to go man. There are less tech problems, way better and user friendly online features, like everyone else said its free. I have personally had both, ps3 just blows xbox out the water, specially with the newer ps3's. I have the 120g slim and the only problem i had was the CD-rom didnt want to spit out my cd's so i sent it in and had it back in a week, works fine now. I also use it to watch movies off my PC. I use Vuze to link up with the PS3 and transfer it to the PS' HD. I love my whole setup. I know Xbox comes with the same feature but the PS3 comes wireless, xbox needs an adapter that you have to buy to be wireless, otherwise you need to run a cord through yer whole fricken house.

PS3 all the way. Fuck paying by the month to play online once you've already spent $500+ on a system and games!

I think there both due for an upgrade....and whatever new system(s) comes out.....ffs make it/them backward compatible so it can play all the games that are out already....

I own a ps3 btw.....

HELL YA!! Like a PC, make a system that's universal! Or at least make all games able to be played online together, Xbox, PS3, Wii ... all on the same network! i'd settle for that

i know most of you said PS3 but if your into gameing alot more id go with the xbox 360. as it has a wider selction of games and has a better online capability, yeah you have to pay like £40 a year, but thats nothing for what your getting. you get quite alot of things on live for your money.
you can get both consoles pretty cheap now anyway. just buy the xbox first, beacause as you said it had more appealing games to you, and it does have alot more. then a few ,onths down the line get the PS3 if you really want it still. its not gonna go anywhere.

peace

Not trying to argue or anything, but what does Xbox Live have that PS3 doesnt? and the only thing Xbox has that ps3 doesnt game wise is Halo's and Fable's ... PS3 has God of war, Uncharted, Final Fantasy, Gran turismo etc etc. Most games nowadays are for both but the exclusive games are way in favor of PS3

I have both and the PS3 just sits there wishing I would play it... I think the onine sucks for it... Oh, but it cost money... I dont give a shh. Ill pay for better online gaming and with that money Microsoft has the purchasing power to get games released on thier console up to 2 months before others...

As for Blu-Rays... seems like another way to keep people paying for shit they dont need to... a 2 Tarobit external hardrive and your choice of torrent loading site and you can have every movie ever made EVER in HD

I watch every movie I could ever want to watch on my PS, no need for the Blu ray player, even so, that is another option. I'm not sure what you mean by online play being shit? I have never had one issue with online play, everything runs perfect, messages, downloads, streaming trailers, everything runs like clockwork. I'm not saying the Xbox Live doesn't perform well, I'm saying PS3 has everything the xbox has.

Can you 100% successfully stream/play MKV to an Xbox360.....or even most AVI, MP4, M2TS from an external HDD.....I'd like to know how you do that.

Lol, i hate to admit it but he's right, completely off topic, but he's right, For the price of a Xbox Elite, or a 500g PS3 you can build a decent PC, prolly without a monitor, but he has a monitor already cuz he's posting online! lol .... but like i said, thats all irrelevant! lol

The most expensive ps console is like 400$, I doubt you could make any pc run that kinda budget, esp if you looking to run decent games like crysis and shit. Ram and a grafx card + powersupply will run a pretty penny alone...and now you get out dated tech In 2weeks.

Ps3 all the way tho for the many stated reasons
...However I'm pissed xbox gets their new maps a month be4 us but w/e

I built my PC 2 years ago for $800, but that included windows 7 AND a monitor. prolly get everything i got back then for about 4-500. minus the monitor and OS. It runs every game just fine, Just got done playin Black Ops a little bit ago. You don't need to go all out man. I coulda easily spent 800 bucks on JUST the vid card and processor. But there's no need. Newegg.com and ebay is your friend.

Heres all the games i play currently on my Desktop:
