Best Type of Property to Rent for Grow House?

I rent a lower class house. It is on one of the worst streets in my not so bad city. It is a two story 2 apartment house. Each goes for 400. On the beginning of next month I will be renting both for 1000. I make sure to take care of yard and house work so the landlord never has a reason to come here. I am a white nerdy guy on a very dark street, so basically the police like me.

Also it is easier to secure an upstairs apartment for growing.

a land lord under no circumstance can come into your house without consent. You are allowed (encouraged) to change the locks also.

This is my advise from experience. Large management will be in your business much more often, at least complex's with a many units and on site maintenance. They are much more likely to do routine checks on smoke detectors, sprinklers, mold, ect... They are acting like a large corporation and trying to prevent lawsuits.

Best situation is to find a private building with low unit count run by someone off site. Obviously be smart, judge and ask questions when meeting any possible landlord to determine if it would be smart to live there.

Maybe some things have changed since I was a renter, but I know for a fact a lot of larger apartment complexes do not allow you to change the locks. It's in their leases - so be sure and read it. As well as giving them consent to enter your apt for maintenance reasons or w/e. I used to work for a locksmith and have even personally master re-keyed entire complexes. Been into every unit when I was alone and 95% of them weren't home. I have opened doors where people had left bongs and dope out on their coffee tables. I'm sure they would know I was coming, but not exactly when. I think they just sent out notices. People didn't specifically give consent. They were just told I was coming. This was all in FL too. I lived and worked in apts all over the Coral Springs & Boca area for about 15 years.

Anyway... no fuckin way I'd grow in one of those corporate owned kind of apts. Maybe.. MAYBE in a privately owned building that had an owner that didn't care about anything other than getting your check. Some landlords are always up your ass though and you may not know until its too late. FL is really risky too man. They will pull 10 seedlings out of your place but act like they just busted Al Capone. Be careful, dude.

just hang dildos, fuzzy handcuffs, and strapons from the front of your grow tent... like draped over or hooked up like a wardrobe

even if they walk in they dare wont open it if they expect to find a closet full of gay sex toys

thats if your renting an apartment and are worried about people coming in doing services

not sure how much this helps, but it is absolutely 100% illegal for a land lord to come into a house without your consent.

sorry but that is not a federal law & i bet not 1 state has a law that doesn't make exceptions for emergency repair. most states require at least 24 hr notice(not consent) if possible. dont expect a landlord to wait 24 hrs if a pipe bursts & is pouring water into the apartment below.
my vote would be for a house or 1/2 house privately owned & lock the spare bedroom. if the apartment is keep up,most landloads wont bother you.

Landlords, as provided by law, are allowed to enter the property without the tenant’s permission in the event of a fire, a flood, a water leak or a roof leak. THIS IS IT. They cannot just enter to look around to see if you're growing pot.....

If you move into a single family home you are much less likely to have any of the above effect you.

Lock the door, and hope they don't have blasters. Just kidding, My apartment maintenance people only come around 1-2 per year unless they are called. If you are doing you stuff right, Carbon filter/O2 generator nobody should be able to tell anything. Keep it small scale though while you are in tight quarters (2-3 lights)

My dad always said if the neighbors bother you, you did not buy enough land.If you got wheels the country is great because people mind their business.

I know this thread is old but I recently came up with this dilema. first week I was there the super came in twice without my consent. I wasnt growing but had equipment, thankfully he did'nt see.

anyways I had enough of this bullshit, I borrowed my sister's 140lb mastiff for a few weeks. Saw the asshole having a smoke in the courtyard. I put on a hand gun club t-shirt from the SallyAnn on, took the snarling, drooling dog out in the courtyard to join him. Then politely told him I would appreciate a heads up and it would be in his best interest also.

Now I get 48hours notice and alot more respect, you don't want to raise suspicion but sometimes you have to set boundries with certain people.

I just spent 3 hours last night dismantaling my tents and what not so my landlord can come over today and resign the lease. It blows but thats life when you rent. On the up side its the first time ive seen him since last year. I noticed when you pay rent a little early (mid month) landlords are usually happy and stay out of your hair.

Old ass thread I know but my .02 if your growing in a rental single family house is the only way to go! Id hate to have to explain to guy living next to me in a apartment why im carrying bags of soil into my apartment...

I rent a house from a guy in the military... Never have to worry about him popping up because he is thousands of miles away. Plus, you can make changes to your lease, just say something. You could put in that the landlord needs to give 48 or 72 hours notice before popping in. I've put in things more ridiculous than that. My current lease, at the end of it my wife and I have the option to buy the house for the remainder of this guys loan... Not what the house is worth, but just what he owes... So all the rent we pay is almost like a mortgage, paying down his loan each month. Be picky with a rental and make sure the landlord won't be popping in... If they joke about it or even seem like they'll want to see the house in like 6 months, look at a different house.

I grow in a spare room closet, I took down the wire shelves in there, easy to put back up, and cut a 6 inch hole
In ceiling to vent through attic to outside... I kept the 6 inch piece so if we move I can put it back up and cover it up easy. You can grow easy without making major mods and be prepared to hide it in an instant... Nobody suspects anything with my growing because nobody knows it's there besides my wife.

Buy a ghetto house and wire it for electric only. Most likely the only one finding your plants will be the thieves who break in just before harvest.
