My Second Grow

Well, in a stoners hurry I went to get a bigger pot to transplant into. It's a 14" pot I believe...

I lined the bottom with all the hydroton I've got.. I'd say about 1/4 of the way hydroton

Bought 2 bags of perlite

Put half of one on top of hydroton, placed the plant on top, then surrounded her with the rest of the perlite... Gave it 4 watercans full of rez water...

Put 2 gallons of water in rez with Big Bud, Hammerhead, and Base nutes...

I'm lovin it!

I get the call for that new job tomorrow!! Wish me luck!! ;)

good move in about a week it'll take off
and good luck on the job hope you get it!
Thanks cbraaszsy!! I hope you're right!
I do believe that makes 4 transplants for her, seems about right..
Raised light and thermometer to compensate for the larger pot..
pH:5.8 and staying there
Temp:81

Got my TDS meter in the mail... foud it to be in the range of only (0-999) but I read that if I take equal part rez water and plain water I can take a reading and just double what I get... so until then that is how I'll be taking any ppm readings.

TDS: 1120 (ppm)

Clone doing fine.. still waitin to see some roots on it.. It's on day 6.. looks healthy besides the yellowing I talked about on page 3...

Hit me up everybody!!

with your clones i found out with mine that i needed to give the tops a lil spray with water.. dont water the jiffy just the leaves on top to keep them healthy and make them dig for the roots the ones that i just left on there own (i was told you needed to let them dry out so they will look for water).. but they all just died on me.. then the next time i started giving them water when they looked poor and eventually they did root (took 12 days for the first of that batch of five then the next time (next 5 clones)i gave them a light spray of water to the leaves and to the top of the humidity dome and had 3 root in 9 days

its in my journal if you are interested (funny thing is the first clones i ever took i didnt use any gel or powder i didnt cut them carefully shoved them into a wet jiffy and into a humidity dome and they all rooted fine and looked healthy with no water (it could be that the temps were to hot for my 2nd and 3rd attempts (the last attempt (9 days 3 rooting)i DID have the temps down as well. just keep an eye on them if the leaves start to droop lil bit of water.. but if they are standing out they are prolly fine

these are the 5 clones i took 1 rooted at 12 days and the other 2 that DID live rooted at 15 days 2 died

i just noticed you cut a lil bud off hahah i do the same thing when i'm hurtin.. but coupkle thing you might already know.. one it'll taste like shit(all the nutes in it still) and from the look of that lil bud.. when its dry it'll be about 20% of that size in other words it looks like you have barely a pipe hit there :)
my next batch 3 rooted in 9 days and the other 2 i forgot in my old room when i changed grow area but when i came back one of them had rooted nicely and the other was dead

i used rooting powder on the first batch of 5 (the first 4 pics) and rooting gel on my next batch of 5

oh and the last set of 5 i also cut off smaller softer branches

ok i think i've rambled on enough here :)

cbraaszsy, my man. Thank you for all your support in my journal! Any help is much appreciated...
ya... i know about that bud.. i just keep laughing about it! ;)

Nice clons on your part! Did tha mother have those rusty/dark spots on her, too?? I can't wait to see if my clone takes root! I spray the leaves and mist the humidity dome often daily..

Is that too much??

A have a tupperware tray with ice I keep changing out to keep the temp where it's at .. 80 degrees... I have a red cup of water and the hydrometer in there.... 24 hours of light... Misting with straight tap water..?

Lighs come on in 2 hours for mom!

i'd be using distilled tap water (let it sit out for 24 hours to let the chlorine evaporate, the rust spots.. no.. the mother was super healthy that all happened after i took them (second batch wasnt nearly that bad)
and i sprayed my leaves and dome daily as well. 24 hours of light is what i used to

Well, the water's been sittin in the spray bottle for days... i kinda spray the pellet with that water... not too much tho.

reason i dont spray the pellet is becuz if the pellet is wet.. the roots dont need to look for water

I got a good tip. I am always worried about the distance of my 600 watt HPS to the top of my plant. So, Iknow that it has to be 24" away, so I cut off an old shoestring at exactly 24" and attached it to my reflector.

Now you'll see that with just a quick glance I'll see how much I need to raise it.

This ismorehelpful during earlier stages of growth of course, but still needed..

I hope others take this tip, as it taked all the guess work out of it.

Being a DJ, I was using 2 12" records everyday lol...

Hang 1000 and 600-watt bulbs 24-36 inches above plants, 400-watt bulbs 18-24 inches and smaller HIDs 6-12 inches above garden canopy.

hmmm that seems way to far the tip i've been using and that i've heard was as close as you can get the light that its not burning the plant in other words put tyour hand on the top of the plant and see if it hurts your hand.. if it doesnt then it wont hurt the plant
my 600 watt is about 10 inches from all my colas seems to be fine. Id like to hear some more opinions on this to

the more light you have as well also makes the nodes grow closer together which increases yield. Your plant looks really skinny and stretched

10 inches??? Well, I got that info from Jorge Cervantes' Indoor Marijuana Horticulture..... It's not air/water cooled.....

Well, once again! Thanks! I found this on High Times.com

"Forty percent less heat means that the lights can be 40 percent closer to your plants without burning them. This alone cuts the difference in efficiency between the 1,000-watt and 600-watt lamps nearly in half. The placement of lights—especially always maintaining the perfect height in relation to your plants—is essential to extracting maximum yield. The highest yields and densest buds come when lights are kept close as possible. During times of peak growth, you should adjust the lamp height every day. Set-it-and-forget-it growers should stick with 1,000-watters.

Twelve inches or closer to the plant tops is recommended with 600-watt bulbs, though the distance will vary somewhat depending on your ability to cool the lamps and the surrounding area. After colas form, back off an additional 4 to 6 inches to prevent scorching. Once plants and root systems are established, blast the plants with light. Intense light is the key to developing close internodal spacing during vegging and early flowering. "

So, I dropped the light to about 14"....

hey i know something ! woohoo hehe yeah i have good airflow and exhaust for my light which does allow me to get closer as soon as this stuff is off the light does actually hurt my hand at 10 inches

50 cfm exhaust
18 inch fan blowing towards my plants at the light
3 inch fresh air intake (also 50 cfm)

= 10 inches for me :)

I love it! I just don't see why Jorge would give me that info... well, light comes on in 2 hours and i'll check it again with some pic updates....
